If you get dressed up each day - how do you motivate yourself

I will preface this by saying I love dressing up. I can do hair and make up really well.

I would say I have style so can put outfits together than look good.

But, I struggle to do it everyday or even most days. I tend to pull hair back into an unflattering bun, no makeup or jewellery. All also wear, more often than not, slightly tatty heeled boots, comfy smart casual trousers and a jumper.

I would love to be someone who wakes up and gets ready for the day with full makeup and a blow dry but can’t motivate myself.

I’d love to get inspiration from other mumsnetters on how they do it.

I always pick out my clothes the evening before on work days, look out shoes, and decide on jewellery. I hang the outfit in the bathroom before going to bed, so that any creases from being in the wardrobe will drop after showering.

I do makeup in about seven minutes, and always put on red lipstick just before leaving the house.

My hair has to be washed and dried each day, so that’s just part of my routine.

I’m working from home just now, so getting up a bit later, and wearing different clothes from my usual work outfits, but am sticking to the usual regime for the sake of my mental health! I also post photos of outfits regularly on Instagram, and if stuff is getting tatty or not flattering I deal with it immediately - charity shop, mending, recycling. Never put something back in the wardrobe that is dud in some way - a button’s come off, the hem’s coming unstitched, orvit needs ironed.

I don’t wear make up
I always get out my clothes night before including shoes
I’m using the working from home as a good time to wear heels in as walking around less than usual!

Because i know i will feel a million times better.
Its like reward vs effort, i know the reward surpasses the effort so its easy.

I love wearing nice clothes/shoes and planning outfits and I've never seen a single person look good in 'lounge wear' so that's all the motivation I need. I've worked form home for many years so I have this down to a fine art now.

Being forced to be on video Skype calls is a good incentive to continue to wear make up and do my hair....Hmm

The desire to keep my MH healthy. And I am on skype calls all day so at least my top half needs to be presentable.

Who says you have to dress up every day? That's setting a very high standard for yourself, surely? Do you mean during lockdown or normally?
