Best hairdryer for thick hair?

My 10y/old hairdryer has finally given up.

I can’t decide what would be best to replace it with.

I’ve gone nearly two weeks without blow drying my hair and it feels awful and takes all day to air dry. I need to just make a decision. Help!

I use a Parlux 3200 after it was recommended by my hairdresser. I have thick, wavy/curly hair and it makes short work of drying it.

I also have the daroko power styler that Clips onto the nozzle. Those together make my hair smooth and shiny with very little effort....and I really can't "do" hair

Thank you, I’ll take a look at the Parlux.

My hairdresser recommended the Dyson. Which would be lovely but I can’t justify spending that much on it.

Thick hair and Dyson owner. I would totally recommend and buy another if it broke.

I have this babyliss one www.amazon.co.uk/BaByliss-Speed-2200-Hair-Dryer/dp/B004IO51KS?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

My hair is thick, and this dries it so fast, with a lovely shine.

Parlux 385 Power Light . I love mine , had it donkeys years and would replace with the same again . Not cheap but worth it IMO .

I have a massive mop of hair and my Parlux works a treat. Everything else just seems to blow my hair around not actually dry it. I then finish it off with a ghd glide.

Babyliss EQ

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/04/2020 07:47

Parlux,I have the same type of hair as you OP,takes all day to dry if left naturally.

ZaraW · 01/04/2020 07:58

Another vote for Parlux. I have the Dyson and don't love it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/04/2020 08:02

I've used a Dyson too but didn't like it as much as my Parlux .

RedRed9 · 01/04/2020 09:07

I went onto Amazon to buy a Parlux and ended up with a H2D as it had really good reviews.

It’s about the same price as a Parlux so I’ve got my fingers crossed.

I hope I haven’t made a mistake in choosing it!

Ah I was coming on to recommend my GHD Helios but I see you’ve bought a hairdryer. Hope you like it!

Paddingtonthebear · 01/04/2020 10:51

Parlux Powerlight

RedRed9 · 01/04/2020 11:30

Oh I’m so stressed that I should have got the Parlux. 😂

I’ll report back when it arrives.

I've got a parlux.
How light is the power light?!

RedRed9 · 09/04/2020 20:48

Reporting back just in case anyone stumbles upon this in the future.

Pros:
Big fan of the H2D. It dried my hair quickly, is powerful and my hair feels lovely and soft after.

Cons:
Maybe heavy? It doesn’t feel heavy to me but DP mentioned it.
My last hairdryer was 10+ years old so I might just be blown away by the fact I’m no longer using an old hairdryer. I had zero issues with my old one but it’s maybe possible that anything modern would be better.

Overall I’m happy!
