My skin has gone awful!

Since I've been in the house every day (it's been about 2 weeks now) I go out a bit but we live in a busy area so don't want to risk a lot... Anyway... My skin has gone so dry and horrible and I'm doing normal regime... And actually barely wearing make up! And I drink loads of water

I use cleansing Balm (eve lom)
Exfoliate 2/3 times a week
Rituals night Balm
And a facial oil

And I'm still dry!!

What the hell. Should I go no products for a bit?

I personally would ditch the oils and balms and go for a good old fashioned moisturiser.

It's not at all trendy or expensive, but Olay night cream (and the Day SPF15 cream, both in the usual small tub with a screw lid not a squeezy tube or bottle) do a fantastic job of moisturising my skin really well. The Normal/Dry day cream is more moisturising, the Sensitive day cream version is great if you are wearing makeup on top.

Do you have the radiators on? If so either turn them off or place shallow dishes of water in the rooms you spend the most time?
Or could it be that you're not exfoliating as well because you don't need to remove make up?

Sorry I actually did spend 3 days using only astral which is my cheap go to. And that didn't even help

I've got one year old so we do try to keep the temp warm... It must be that.

I'm going to do a full mini facial tonight and hope I can "re-set"

Eesh, I wouldn't use Astral! Grin I know it has a cult following but personally it's not my go-to for moisturising... Confused

Oh I love astral. My grandma has always used it and looks amazing. I'm a big fan.❤️

Weleda skin food is MAGIC. I swear by it (as does Katie Jane Hughes my insta skincare/make up guru). It's so thick and moisturising but perfect for when you are stuck inside as you end up rather shiny and plump in the face for a while before it sinks in lol

Nogoodwithgoodbyes · 30/03/2020 22:07

If you’re not acne-prone give coconut oil a whirl on its own at night. It’s magic. I’m acne-prone & it didn’t break me out but I know others on MN have said it does for them. I found it very moisturising-gave my skin a boost.

PerfidiousAlbion · 30/03/2020 22:09

I was the same but Ive started to use La Roch Pose and have seen a huge improvement. I also second switching off the central heating or putting bowls of water on radiators.

How do you exfoliate? Maybe you are using some too strong/drying? If you use a muslin cloth/flannel with the cleanser maybe that is enough??
