I like their dresses (loose shapes, and fabrics), but can’t afford the prices.
Can anyone recommend similar brands?

I'm a Toast fan who also has a wardrobe full of Cos. More of a Scandi vibe than Toast but similarly simple shapes.

John Lewis Kin range is in a similar mould, trousers, skirts, denim and jackets especially. Like Toast, their sizes come up large.

I have a colleague who is a complete Toast devotee and has recently discovered Uniqlo (a long-standing favourite of mine too) and is hoovering up their dresses and shirts.

Wait for the Toast sales. I never buy anything full price. I like Poetry but again the sales are where I buy. Wrap is similar but also too expensive. Cos is better priced. Arket is worth a look too.

Also the Toast outlet in Shepton Mallet is big.
I've seen similar things buried in the racks very occasionally in Zara - although the quality will be not as good of course.
