Help me find a dress

A trivial matter in the grand scheme of things, however hoping you lovely people can help..

I love this Hush dress (link to follow) but they only go up to a 16 and I'm a 20. have you seen anything similar elsewhere? Must be blue, small flowers and a bit loose/grungy, v or scoop neck, not round neck.

The dress reminds me of a favourite one from the 90s so a bit of uni-nostalgia admittedly and probably unwise. But there you go...

nooo I would not wear that. my mum used to wear a dresses like that in the last war.. I a m 78 now, and like sexy fitted kind of dresses.

PapercraftNinja · 27/03/2020 09:58

I love that!! I’ll have a mooch online and see

bakewellfizz · 27/03/2020 09:59

Have you looked at the dresses from seasalt? They've got some similar looking styles (although not sure about prints)

babyburrito1 · 27/03/2020 10:11

I tried on a lovely dress in Next recently that was really similar to the one you've linked to, blue floral pattern, loose fit, v-neck and buttoned with the slightly raised waistline. I was gutted it didn't really suit me. However, I've just tried to link to it and realised that Next Online has shut down, so actually not that helpful, although if you're looking for summer and can wait then maybe it will be back in the sale when they reopen!

bluerad · 27/03/2020 10:14

I find Hush dresses to be generous and as it's a baggy style might it be worth trying a 16 on it you can?

sadforthekoalas · 27/03/2020 10:36

Thanks! I'm not in need of it in a hurry so any stores will do. More of a distraction than anything else (plus a bit of nostalgia)!

sadforthekoalas · 27/03/2020 10:38

@bluerad doubt there's any chance of a getting into 16 at present I'm afraid (too close to the snack cupboard at present) maybe if they did an 18

Next usually have similar styles

BeyonceKnows · 27/03/2020 10:39

Boden do dresses in a similar style to that one.
I think it's a lovely dress Smile

goldenorbspider · 27/03/2020 10:50

I love a midi dress at the minute

BeyonceKnows · 27/03/2020 10:57

www.johnlewis.com/collection-weekend-by-john-lewis-emilia-floral-3-4-sleeve-shift-dress-blue-multi/p4899687 John Lewis has some good options.

The Op didn't ask what style of dress random 78 year olds like though.

TheNavigator · 27/03/2020 12:41

Hush frequently size up very large - it could easily be a couple of sizes larger than a 16 you would get from another shop.

Whiffenpoofs · 28/03/2020 07:14

I know right @ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords?! I'm sure there is a time and place for the sexy fitted dresses for 78 year olds but this is not it...! Envy

PureedSocksAndPants · 28/03/2020 08:36

Maybe

PureedSocksAndPants · 28/03/2020 08:43

I bought this last year M&Co do often get things back in stock and you ask to be notified when they do.

sadforthekoalas · 28/03/2020 14:38

Thanks!

I sort of understand what artie is saying though - there is a fine line with grungy/loose dresses so as not to look like you've made no effort but I think with a pretty floral print and good hair and it will look cool 😎

TheClitterati · 28/03/2020 19:22

I'm having trouble thinking how any floral midi dress could be described in any way as grungy 😂😂

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 29/03/2020 21:39

@sadforthekoalas I was quoting a previous poster there - I am not the 78 year old in a tight dress Grin

sadforthekoalas · 30/03/2020 10:10

Oh yes it was 1forall am not tagging though

OP posts:
sadforthekoalas · 30/03/2020 10:14

Have to say that Theclit is wrong though sorry - ditsy florals are perfectly grunge.

Though I would wear sandals not DMs as even I think that would look a bit of a try hard combo at 46. Sigh. Just a bit of nostalgia for a sunny early 90s summer whilst stuck inside

Anyway back to the fashion thanks for the suggestions so far. I liked mandco (tho prefer not collar) and ASOS. Maybe it's too early for summer dresses? I wonder what retailers will do this year

Both were stretchy jersey though. The dress of my dreams/youth was a fine cotton (from topshop iirc) I may have a photo somewhere
