Any way to remove upper lip hair from the root WITHOUT getting acne as a result?

I have a relatively high pain threshold when it comes to removing upper lip hair but annoyingly, it always causes whitehead acne the day after.

How can I avoid this? Tried and tested ways you overcame this if you were prone to the issue, would be helpful.

Please don't suggest shaving or hair removal creams as they don't remove the hair from the root.

I use the Veet cold wax strips. Never had a problem with acne or clogged pores after. Perhaps try a different brand than what you usually do?

Phillips lumia? Technically you do have to shave first, but it knackers the follicle so the hair falls out from the root and after a few treatments either doesn't come back at all, or grows back incredibly slowly.

I used to get this too when I waxed my top lip. I've found that putting some antiseptic cream on straight after waxing stops it happening.

I use germolene straight after waxing and then put on a little bit more each evening for a couple of days afterwards. It has pretty much stopped all the dots.

I get this. I use tea tree blended oil after and it stops it.
If you’re locked down as pp have suggested some antiseptic cream?

I get spots occasionally from wax.

Bring stuck at home, assuming beautician is closed, I’m using my springy thing. Epitool I think it is, from amazon. God it’s painful, but more like threading. Only rips the hair, leaves skin a lot calmer.

@KickingItSince1966 Epiwand, right? I have that too but regardless of what method I use, I get spots afterwards, whether it's waxing, using that tool or plucking out individual hairs with a tweezer.

If you have the budget for a Lumea (and if your skin and hair are within the feasible range), then that is well worth it. I love mine.

It smells a bit funny when you first put it on, especially as it's right under your nose, but the smell soon wears off.

@Ninkanink I have dark skin and black hair. I heard it’s more for fair skin. Is that true?

I think it depends on how dark your skin is - there should be a skin/hair colour chart on the Phillips website.

Are you cleaning your hands, skin and the tool each time?

If using wax strips first smooth a very small amount of talc or talc free powder on your top lip first. Rub it into your skin with your finger tips so it’s barely visible, this stops the wax sticking to the skin but it still grabs the hairs.
I use Veet cold wax strips. Rub them together to warm them enough to separate, once peeled apart put on the porcelain of the sink to re cool then when slapping them on above your lip rub to re warm to grip the hairs- works brilliantly & no acne.

I use an epistick and it works well. Doesn’t cause me any spots or irritation.
