I need to dye my hair. I have bog standard blonde highlights but I can't replicate them at home.

What all over hair dye would be good? I like a warm, honey blonde colour.

I tried twice to dye my own hair years ago and both required a hairdresser to sort it out because I made such a mess of it!

I can't help, because I'm useless, but watching with interest! Please take before and after shots!

My hairdresser texted yesterday to say they have closed! I’m grey if I don’t dye it! I have shortish hair! What now? I’ll have a go at the colour but precision cutting? I’m going to look like an aging scarecrow!

vjg13 · 22/03/2020 20:57

Lots of us with the same problem!

MrsBobDylan · 22/03/2020 23:57

Oh God this isn't good!

I know it's really the least of Coronavirus worries, but I too will resemble an ageing scarecrow.

I've been on eBay and am going to give a mid blonde a whirl. I have curly hair and the last time I tried an all over hair dye I strongly resembled Ronald McDonald.

I will do a before and after, if only to give us all a much needed laugh.

Have scarves, hairbands and kirby grips on standby. Step away from the clippers.

Iamonlyme · 23/03/2020 07:29

I am seriously considering stepping towards the clippers and giving myself a no 2!

Is it wrong to feel happy I lost my hair during chemo so don’t have this worry ? Grin
Embrace the hats my friends !

Getting hair dye has been problematic. It’s another vanishing product!

mrsm12 · 23/03/2020 08:58

My hairdresser sent a message around saying please please please don't use home dye. Everybody's going to be in the same position it'll be grand!

amiapropermum · 23/03/2020 09:27

Try esalon. You can message a colourist online and they blend a colour or highlights for you. You can upload a pic of your hair too

BubblesBuddy · 23/03/2020 09:59

No it won’t be grand. I’m not wanting a white steak and growing out grey on my parting! I’m home dying. My hairdresser hadn’t mentioned it in their email.

BubblesBuddy · 23/03/2020 13:03

Esalon are sending me a kit. Thanks for the advice.

amiapropermum · 23/03/2020 13:23

It's nerve wracking doing your own hair but I've used them twice now and it's turned out well. There've tweaked my colour too and answer questions etc.

BubblesBuddy · 23/03/2020 15:35

I’ve never done my own hair colour so I will be nervous. The salon, when it reopens, might be taking a lot of my money to correct my mistakes! Oh well!
