Stitch Fix

I got my first stitch fix box today and I'm really disappointed.

Had anyone had it and been happy with their selection? They're giving me a new stylist for the next one, that's the last one I'm trying.

Anyone else tried it ? More successful than me ?

I’ve had 3 which have been ok but not great. I’ve had much more success with Lookiero. I thought stitch fix were frumpy and all much the same.

LefttoherownDevizes · 21/03/2020 18:01

Thank you, I hadn't heard of them but just found a code for free trial so hopefully my box is on its way

Hi,

Stitch fix have just sent me a code for £25 off which is better than their normal offer of £10, so if anyone wants to give it a go, this might be a good time opportunity.

Hi @Karcheer

I tried to use your code but it wouldn't let me. Customer services said they would add it but need your email address. If you don't mind could you pm me your email address? Thanks

Glitterkitten24 · 17/07/2020 17:23

I’ve had a few boxes and kept most of it.
I had a different stylist for my last box and hated it all, it wasn’t personalised and was really expensive stuff they sent me- £80 yoga pants ffs!
I’ll try one more box I think.

lockdownalli · 17/07/2020 17:57

I have started using it and absolutely loved it.

Here is my £15 off referral code, you won't need my email address to use it.

www.stitchfix.co.uk/invite/ffztmxfkwh?sod=w&som=c

I kept the lot and got 20% off, as well as the £10 stylist fee back which you get if you keep just one item. I felt my stylist totally got me, but I did spend a long time answering all the questions they ask about necklines/sleeves/styles etc etc.

I am set to the cheapest level and was really happy with my Mango/Warehouse haul. I would be upset if they changed my stylist after we started off so well though, but I guess if they leave, what can you do?

It helped me get out of a style rut I had got into and made me look a bit differently at clothes I wouldn't normally wear. I wish I could afford to order another box now to be honest Grin It really cheered me up it was like getting a box of Fashion Christmas Pressies.

I would say give it a go.

Bella2020 · 17/07/2020 19:37

I'd say keep trying. I kept 3 out of 5 on my last StitchFix items and all of my last Lookiero.
Leave as much feedback as you can on the items you don't like and on the comments box, too. I mentioned everything I could think of that wasn't right and also what I did like or would prefer.
I think you can now give access to a Pinterest board, if you have one, where you keep pics of things you like. I'm always adding to mine. When I save things to Pinterest, I write specific details that I like and I also save pics of things I already have, mentioning if I'm struggling in particular areas of my wardrobe, too.

It takes time for your stylist to get a good fix on what you do and don't like. I've had the same Lookiero stylist right from the start and 2 with StitchFix. I have just one concern with StitchFix; they are introducing their own clothing lines and I worry that they may purposely look at their own stuff first before looking around other brands.

studychick81 · 17/07/2020 19:50

I am got on ok with them but have been quite disappointed overall. The first box was very disappointing and I didn't keep anything. The second and third box I kept 2/5 items so not great. I changed stylist after box 2. I have a couple of nice items from it but not wow. I am quite fussy though and have got more explicit about my likes and dislikes. It's not been brilliant but I do have a couple of items I wouldn't have got already.

Justanotherwrinkle · 17/07/2020 19:54

I have tried SF and Lookerio and came to the conclusion it’s ok if you want NeXt and Oasis styling ie a bit mumsy and unstyled and very much fade into the background but it will not provide you quirky or edgy.

Even set to a higher budget it was all so bland. I also spent ages filling in all the surveys and feedback each time so concluded they are just not very stylish.

You can get all that stuff yourself wandering round a bit shopping centre for an hour

I wish they were sourcing clothes from more unusual or quirky or edgy labels

Chienloup · 17/07/2020 19:57

I have had 3 SF parcels, all absolute rubbish, so I've cancelled. As a PP said, it is very boring, middle-of-the-road, and mid-quality stuff. Quite blah.

Mightymurphy · 17/07/2020 22:39

I threw a hissy fit at the feedback request for my last box and I’ve reduced to once a quarter boxes. I was clear way back when I first ordered that I don’t wear anything with a high crew neck and nothing that doesn’t have a sleeve. This box I got 2 t shirts with no sleeves and one high neck blouse. I also got yet another pair of jeans and an awful khaki dress.

Glitterkitten24 · 17/07/2020 22:54

@Mightymurphy I was a bit the same. I said no jewellery and they keep sending me fashion jewellery- I wear very little jewellery and certainly don’t want £45 ted baker earrings that will likely turn my ears black!

I suppose it’s like anything, there will be some stylists better than others but I was less than impressed last time. I hope they get it right next box because I love the concept and they have sent some nice clothes that I would never have picked up if shopping myself.

DarlingCoffee · 18/07/2020 07:40

Same - I love the concept, and right now when the last thing I want to do is walk around shops, I like the idea of having clothes sent to me. However the last box I ordered was DREADFUL. Sent it all back. I’m giving them one last try then will likely cancel. It does all seem to depend on who you get as a stylist. Previous boxes have been well thought out, sadly just not my latest one.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 18/07/2020 10:21

I’ve had three boxes now and the latest one was pretty good - I kept three things and only hated one thing! However, it’s definitely on the blander end and they tell you to be specific about what you want - but by the time I’ve thought about how I’d like a blazer, I’d then be just as well having a look at Zara and choosing the one I like best instead of getting one in a colour/fabric/style I’m not that bothered about.

patas · 18/07/2020 10:32

I have had 4 boxes with stitch fix - and have detailed feedback each time as to why I didn't like the selection.
Agree with pp that if you want bland fade-into-the-background clothes that's what you get.
I have enough of those clothes in my wardrobe and wanted to inject some style into my clothes.
The clothes they sent me were so boring and middle-aged/mumsy - I could just go into the next website and randomly buy myself that stuff.

It's too mainstream for me. Nothing to do with style, just pushing more landfill clothes at us all. I can see if you have a really really busy life it might be useful, but because I sent all mine back and didn't like any of it, I found it a huge waste of time.

patas · 18/07/2020 10:38

All this 'changing stylist if you don't like your current one' is a bit bullshit too I assume?

They have the same mountain of boring clothes to choose from in a warehouse - they don't hit Selfridges for you!

Stitch fix also have their own 'brand' which they sneak into you box - the quality is supermarket clothes, but the price is mid-range high street.
I remember someone posting on another stitch fit thread about a blouse they had received in their box....I think everyone on the thread recieved the same blouse! So much for individual styling!

dontgobaconmyheart · 18/07/2020 10:50

I think they're rubbish and am convinced it's just a way for companies to get rid of old lines from brands they're affiliated with and lines they've bought in on the cheap.

A friend and I did it mainly for a laugh and oit of curiosity when they started. Neither of us kept anything, because it was all pretty bad but it was interesting seeing how they disregard the 'brief' and the fact the 'brief' is always whittling it towards stuff they would probably send regardless. None of it was on trend or tailored to any requests really, I can only imagine you'd believe they'd tailored it to you if you already happen to dress in a sort of generic slightly mumsy style. I'd love to see a 20 year old fill out the same questionnaire, get the exact same stuff, and be totally horrified. I'm early thirties and was!

I enjoy shopping for myself so don't feel a need for it but if you want a bit of fun just have a friend pick some bits for you and order instead, they'll do a far better job, for free.

tenterden · 18/07/2020 10:51

Oh I bloody love StitchFix!!

I have had four boxes - I started when lockdown started to cheer myself up.

Maybe I am easily pleased but I have kept all of it Blush and I wear it all too and have had compliments on it.

I think if you are already able to spend hours trawling through websites and know what suits you, then maybe it isn't the service for you.

What I like is having the stylist choose the stuff for me. I just do not know what I am doing, but when I try the clothes on, and often they are things I wouldn't normally wear, I have been pleasantly surprised.

I definitely haven't had any jewelry or cheap looking clothes. I haven't had anything I specifically said I didn't want either. I said no sleeveless tops/no green/no shoes, bags or jewelry. No stripes or checks. I was very specific Grin and they have abided by all my roolz perfectly.

Different strokes and all that.

Lepetitpiggy · 26/07/2020 14:17

Had my first box today - waiting for me on my return from holiday! I loved the things I was sent apart from one dress, so kept 4 out of five. I was also surprised at the reasonable cost - but I had said the prices I would be happy to pay and also was pretty specific about my likes. Two Joules items, one Oasis and another I don't know but which is clearly good quality.

sophiestew · 26/07/2020 15:52

I got my first box yesterday and I love it all Smile

Thank you for the £15 off referral code @lockdownalli.

Who was your stylist @Lepetitpiggy? Mine was Scarlett and I think she got me absolutely right. I felt slightly stretched but not too much, which is what I wanted.

I can't wait for my next one now. I feel much better put together. I really liked the little cards I got telling me how to style things too, as that's the kind of help I need Blush

Lepetitpiggy · 26/07/2020 16:03

Diana? I'm not sure - I'll have to double check..

Lepetitpiggy · 26/07/2020 16:03

Yes the little cards are brilloant!

Lepetitpiggy · 26/07/2020 17:23

Not Diana, Olivia!

LivingDeadGirlUK · 26/07/2020 18:59

I knew I had seen a thread about this, I tried as well and got my delivery yesterday. Was also picked by Olivia and the choices were great. I kept it all, one t shirt was basic and not worth £25 but keeping it was worth it for the 25% off. Two items were their own brand but were still nice.

lockdownalli · 26/07/2020 19:45

Oh so glad you liked it sophie

@LivingDeadGirlUK I really liked the own brand stuff. I thought it was well made and a bit different. G;ad you enjoyed it too.

It sounds like maybe the stylists have upped their game during lockdown. I won't be getting a new box until end of September and I wish it was sooner!! It's really reduced my anxiety around what I wear when mixing with more fashionable or style conscious friends.
