Gym wear for bigger ladies?

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 12/03/2020 18:00

I'm joining the gym as I'm so appalled at how badly I've let myself go over the years, so I'll need some stuff to wear. Most importantly, a jiggle proof bra that's going to keep my boobs in place when I'm working out! I'm a 18/20 with big GG boobs! Where's the best place to shop? Online is best really, I don't have a huge budget either so nothing wildly expensive Grin

Big supermarkets and Primark have a good range of workout clothes at reasonable prices
Spend money on your sports bra, not something to skimp on
Personally, I like Freya Active sports bras. (Am a 32GG/34G)

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 12/03/2020 18:23

I don't have a big supermarket or a Primark close by Sad that's why I have to shop online!

H&M do some great active wear. I'm a size 18 (in leggings, 20 in jeans!) I need an XL in their stuff.

These are really good. Stop you from feeling the wobble when you run Grin

ThePenIsBlue · 12/03/2020 18:33

Shock absorber bras definitely. Only thing that straps my enormous knorks down - I used to have to wear 2 bras when working out!

dementedpixie · 12/03/2020 18:40

Look at boobydoo website for sports bras

CMOTDibbler · 12/03/2020 18:43

My new favourite bra is the Runderwear easy on bra. Soo comfortable and great control. It is expensive, so look on Brastop for Freya Active bras massively reduced.

Sainsburys online have a good selection of gym clothes in your size

blueskys72 · 12/03/2020 18:48

I've just got a Matalan catalogue through the door - some nice stuff in there.

inwood · 12/03/2020 18:48

I've got some really great leggings in the fabletics sign up deal. I'm an 18.

Otherwise I like Next and Tu.

Have a look at Lucy Locket Loves.

George at Asda is good quality and value and u can order on line they also often have sales

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 13/03/2020 08:03

Isn't Fabletics a subscription service?

The runderwear pants are also great - comfy pants are a must

dementedpixie · 13/03/2020 08:11

Yes it is. You have to opt out by a certain date each month so they dont take money out your account. Allegedly you can cancel membership at any time

TreestumpsAndTrampolines · 13/03/2020 08:30

I could be you OP (although I lost 10kg at the end of last year, so now am 16/18 - ) - Decathlon kit is cheap but well made and thought out. They don't have everything in the biggest sizes, but you can find plenty.

Bra-wise, if you're planning to run, just don't skimp - I have shock absorber bras, and they're the only ones that have had the fortitude and construction to cope with boobs the size of children's heads bouncing around.

dementedpixie · 13/03/2020 11:55

I couldn't get the correct fit with shock absorber. I get on better with panache ultimate underwired sports bras

Peasfox · 13/03/2020 11:57

Nike!

dementedpixie · 13/03/2020 12:01

Curvissa does brands in plus sizes plus it's own make stuff

CMOTDibbler · 13/03/2020 12:02

Me too DementedPixie - I go up and up in the band and can't ever get a Shock Absorber to work

northernstars · 13/03/2020 12:14

Agree spend the money on 2 good bras - they're better hand washed and dried so have 2 in rotation. The supermarkets do have good gear and I would also recommend ASOS - they have a plus size and tall section.
Good luck!

Tomorrowisanewday · 13/03/2020 13:05

I'm similar size as you at the moment. Swear by Shock Absorber bras. Decathlon and Sainsburys for clothes

XingMing · 13/03/2020 20:04

Get the underwear, and do the programme. It's the first step to a better life. Only you are worrying about the look. Good shoes, good bra and go for it. Find the style for you in a month or two, once the exercise starts to reshape your body.

INeedToGetHealthy · 13/03/2020 20:26

Boobydoo are great at providing a good selection of sports bras. www.boobydoo.co.uk/all-products?size_range=489
I wear leggings from TK Maxx or Sainsburys in larger sizes.

RandomWordsandaNumber5 · 14/03/2020 08:03

I’ve just bought some leggings from Matalan online - very happy with them.
If you’re planning on doing aerobic type classes then I really wouldn’t skimp on the bra. I wear the underwired sports bras from M and S. The rest of their sports wear is worth a look too.
Good luck with the exercise!
