Is a short blunt bob the answer here?

My hair is very fine, thin (an individual strand is barely visible - much thinner then the finest cotton) and fragile. Since messing about with HRT (stopped for 2 months and re-started different one) it’s been shedding. Oh and just for extra annoyance I’ve a double crown which makes me look bald if it’s not cut/styled well.

It’s currently just below jaw length and in a layered, graduated bob with an eyebrow length fringe. It looks too feathery and thin and I keep reading that a blunt bob is the answer. I’ve seen pictures on Pinterest but find it hard to believe they’re going to make my hair look thicker.

Won’t all one length make it look even thinner and lanker. I don’t know what to do. Any advice welcome.

When I search Short blunt bob thin fine hair, this sort of thing comes up. I love it but do they really mean it will work on very thin, very fine hair?

I have very fine hair that falls out and I'm menopausal as well.
I bought a silk pillow case to stop the frizz and had it cut into a blunt bob.
Not as sort as the picture but it has helped massively and my hair looks so much better

My hair is the same. So thin and fine. When I had it down and parted so it's each side of my face below shoulders it looked terrible looked like a few strands together. Even worse when I had it in a bun it was like a babys first time of having it in a ponytail. I was sick of it so one night after I washed it I blunt cut it to just above my shoulders and got so many compliments the next day. Looks so much thicker and healthier.

Some of us aren't meant to have nice long luscious hair! I

That’s really good to know Notonmyshift. I would like it longer than in the pic but it’s going to have to be that short to start with if it’s going to be one length. I don’t think I can face waiting too much longer to grow it out.

unsure111. Wow. It seems there is actually sense in this approach. I’m just finding it hard to believe with my crap hair. I know what you mean about it being like baby’s hair. I’m going to give it a go because it can’t easily look less voluminous than it does at present.

Another one with thin hair.

The more layers you have and along with a fringe, the less hair you have. I can't grow it for too long before it looks lanky so a blunt bob works best for me.

I also have very fine, baby-like hair, which was shoulder length. Had it chopped and highlighted on Saturday and wow, the difference! Looks about 3 times the thickness. Mine is a bit shorter than the blunt bob - more like this kind of thing.

I have thin fine hair and have a blunt bob, I used to have a fringe but it got wispier and wispier so grew it out and have a one length bob but my hairdresser does slightly chop into the bottom of it, and it does make it look thicker more abundant but as soon as it hits my shoulders and start to part it looks straggly, I would love to have mine the length in your picture but I have a low uneven weird hairline so I go as short as I can, but it's off my shoulders.

Right, I’m definitely doing it. Thank you for your experiences. Shame my hair is so slow growing. It’ll take a fair time to grow out my fringe.

I have similar hair but a short blunt bob just doesn’t suit my face- I have quite a round face and end up looking about 12 with a bob (but with wrinkles!)

Jayne05 · 11/03/2020 14:24

Same baby fine hair here. I’ve got mine in a just below jaw length blunt bob with a side fringe. I hate my hair and this is the only style I’ve ever been able to have. Apart from a pageboy cut in the early 80’s!!

Candleford · 11/03/2020 15:36

Well I’m going to hang on as long as I can bear and try let the layers grow a bit longer before going for it. But it sounds like the way to go and it’s the only thing I haven’t tried. I
