Anyone use brown instead of black for a more natural look? I've heard it's better for blue eyes? But mine are brown. Is there any point? If so can anyone recommend? Thanks!

I do. I’m in my 50s. As I get older, black looks too harsh and fake, but dark brown is just a bit softer and is fine.

I have green eyes.

Binglebong · 10/03/2020 15:59

I saw this tip. Kicking myself now as I can't remember where.

Windyatthebeach · 10/03/2020 16:00

Rimmel brown /black it's called.
I have blue eyes though..

PorpentinaScamander · 10/03/2020 16:04

I've only ever worn brown mascara because black is too harsh on me. I've got hazel/coppery coloured eyes.
My preferred one is Boots Natural Collection.

cattaxi · 10/03/2020 16:10

Yup! Black is way too harsh. Always work black/brown false lash effect by max factor. I have blue eyes.

EndlessUserName · 10/03/2020 17:52

Thanks! I'll give it a go! I tried a clear one recently thinking that would be very natural looking - well it is... So natural looking that I couldn't even see it hah!

I've always worn brown. It's not really to do with eye colour but with hair colour; if you're fair black is unflatteringly hard.

SegregateMumBev · 10/03/2020 18:30

I have brown eyes and hair, and I prefer brown or brown/black mascara. Benefit Rollerlash is my fave.

ATowelAndAPotato · 10/03/2020 18:53

I wear brown day to day, and use black for nights out, etc.

Redandblue11 · 10/03/2020 18:57

Always! I have brown towards hazel eyes.
Whenever ladies at make up counters tried to convince me that black was better for me I asked them to put black in one and brown in the other eye and invariably always they agreed that brown was better for me.
I have both the Rimmel and channel ones in brown.

PorpentinaScamander · 10/03/2020 18:58

@stopfundinghate I never quite understood clear mascara. But then I have practically non existent eyelashes. I could probably count them they are that thin.
Having said that they look lovely with a well applied coat of mascara.

Sarcelle · 10/03/2020 19:27

I wear brown/black for everyday.

When I want to look bolder, I wear black.

I am a blue eyed blond.

missl1 · 10/03/2020 19:39

Can anyone recommend a good waterproof brown mascara? I really like Mac but they don't do brown in a waterproof version.

GlassOfProsecco · 11/03/2020 06:57

@missl1 - Dior mascara comes in brown waterproof - i use the Iconic or PumpNVolume ones - best mascara on the market.

homemadecommunistrussia · 11/03/2020 07:36

I always wear brown, black looks very artificial and hard on me and I have pretty dark hair, but fair skin. I like rimmel waterproof brown/black.

Zinnia · 11/03/2020 07:51

Yup, I have brown eyes & hair but pale skin and have used brown/black mascara for day-to-day for as long as I can remember. It's just more natural looking. Max Factor Masterpiece Max is the one I return to time and time again.

JingleCatJingle · 11/03/2020 07:59

Clinique lash power mascara in chocolate is my go to for lasting brown mascara.
It only comes off with warm water.

JingleCatJingle · 11/03/2020 08:00

I have blue eyes and am very fair.

SegregateMumBev · 12/03/2020 15:22

Maybelline Total Temptation in Deep Cocoa

MadisonAvenue · 12/03/2020 15:27

I’ve always used brown, I’m blonde, pale and blue eyed and black is too fake on me.

It’s hard to find brown and the one which suits me best is Benefit’s They’re Real. It’s not waterproof I don’t think but it stays on all day for me and doesn’t give me panda eyes like most others I’ve tried.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/03/2020 22:08

I can't find any anywhere, what makes are you all using? I need a washable not tubing sort .
