MOTB type outfit for short & big person

I’m starting to think about what to wear at DSS’s wedding which is in September. It’s a small wedding, no church, I reckon no hats but I do want to look my best.

Trouble is at 5ft 0 and size 16-18, I find clothes hard to buy so need to work hard at it hence starting early!

I’m a brunette, ‘deep summer’ so look best in deep, cool, muted tones, certain red/pink/burgundy, mid to dark blues and greens. I like open necks, scoops for example. Décolletage area is best and I find being open there tends to be flattering overall. Have no waist and find most dresses just show off my thick tummy area and I look really big side on. I can wear Spanx but they make me smoother, not really smaller! Legs are thick too and knees are very lumpy. I sound a delight I know but I can scrub up well! I’m late 40s so not wishing to look old either. Have tried some jumpsuits but all appalling fit so far. Prefer no polyester (but if it is flattering I would compromise here!).

Will get hair/nails done on the day & am ok with make up.

No fixed budget, happy to spend a few hundred to get the right outfit.

I have used a personal shopper in the past but they didn’t do a great job. Am pondering those specialist MOTB type shops but have never been in one!

Any ideas what you would wear if you were me please?

TIA
