Please help to motivate me!

I've just started back at work after long term illness and realised after looking like I got dressed in the dark last week that I need to get organised.

Half my work clothes are in the loft (the smarter half I guess) as I didn't need them when I was at home. Summer clothes are also in the loft. I have loads and loads of casual clothes but need to be smart-casual for work. Warm workplace but with cold spots so layers are good. Half my clothes don't fit as I've put on weight. Everything is jumbled and in a mess.

I want to sort this today, clear out the old stuff and organise the rest. Iron stuff that badly needs it. Then maintain some order!

Any tips please?

Put clothes in big pile.
1)Pull out stuff that is basically rags and recycle
2)Stuff that is good but too small and you don't like it put in charity shop pile ( unless you have time to eBay?)
3) Are you likely to lose the weight ? (for example, after I finished chemo I was a stone heavier than I am now back at my usual size)? If yes, don't get rid of things that may fit you again if you still like them
4) divide what is left into 'work' and casual/ everyday and going out piles.
5) try in everything in each pile and work out what outfits you like/ can make and if you have gaps eg a good pair of jeans. ( if you need a temporary pair while you lose weight for example look at M&S which are not too expensive.) if you have the money and are the size you think you will stay maybe look at an 'investment' pair that will make you feel awesome even in jeans and a tee. Then look for good quality basics if that's what yiu need or a great cardigan to layer up in the office.

Great advice there from pp.

I try really hard not to keep things that don't fit, too small or too big (I lost weight a few years ago).

If you honestly think you will lose the weight then maybe keep your fave too smalls, but if you are actually happy with your weight now, get rid.

Ebay is actually good I find for clothes, they are cheap to post and if a good make and good condition will sell. I have had success with Boden, whistles, even nice things from Next.

Don't forget your knicker drawer - recycle those bras that dont fit and bin any crappy knickers. New knicks that fit are one of life's cheapest morale boosters.

Thank you! I've got a big bag to go to charity already and have picked out my outfits for the week. Lots of nice things I'd forgotten about! Too small things are going in the loft. 🙂
