Blondes - How often do you get your roots done?

Ive been blonde now for about 2 years and I'm at that point of debating just going dark again. The hairdresser books me in for my foils every 6/7 weeks but I think to get it how I'm happy with it looking I should probably go every 3/4. What do other people do? Lots of strategic patterns for the last week??

End of every month, i'm bleached so have to go that often as it's very noticeable.

Being a blonde, never Grin

TheCatServant · 07/03/2020 15:28

Have you thought about balayage instead - more manageable

f83mx · 07/03/2020 15:28

7-8 weeks but I’m patchy grey so the roots are salt and pepper and don’t look too bad when they come through

youareatwatadmitit · 07/03/2020 15:32

I found it too much when I was full head/very pale blonde (the result of repeated foils, over a couple of years)
It became a lot more manageable when I got some dark put back through it and it was more highlighted/dark blonde and the roots just weren't as obvious.
Ask your hairdresser, they'll have a solution that's not full brunette, if you don't want it to be.

Though after a few years of blonding, I've just gone back dark to give my hair a rest, my hair feels so soft. It's such a welcome change.

It really depends how different your natural hair colour is. Mine is mousey brown, so I can get with every 8-10 weeks.

dementedpixie · 07/03/2020 15:34

It was 3 months since my last highlights so I had a lot of roots. I get a mix of highlights and a low light.

withlotsoflove · 07/03/2020 15:47

7 weeks. I am very dark brown and get a mixture to make my hair lighter.

izzybee55 · 07/03/2020 17:13

Since I got balayage I go 4 months without getting any colour and my hair is miles healthier. Also looks much more natural IMO

lindyloo57 · 07/03/2020 17:17

It been 8 weeks since my highlights, have a appointment at the end of march, I have had highlights for 30 years, took a year off last year, as i wanted to grow them out, my hair was in lovely condition without them, but I felt so drab and dull that in September last year gave in and had some put back in. I try to go 12 weeks but i can put a few in myself between appointments in the fringe and just along the parting.

Murraygoldberg · 07/03/2020 17:20

I go about 4 times a year but I'm quite fair, it really depends on your natural colour

DramaAlpaca · 07/03/2020 17:23

I get about 10 weeks between highlights. My roots aren't too noticeable as I'm dark blonde anyway and get lighter blonde highlights.

Gamble66 · 07/03/2020 19:23

Balyage with a root smudge is a good solution or with your natural root - my clients go between 2-5 months

Freshnewus · 07/03/2020 19:24

10-12 weeks.
I get very fine babylights, so it's much less noticable compare to thicker highlights.
I'm also a dark blonde/mousy brown

Gemma2019 · 07/03/2020 22:13

I get roots done every 3-4 weeks and highlights every second or third time
