Just got my hair done by a relative.. she has mucked up my hair a few times but I would just feel awkward saying to her I’m going elsewhere.. after today I think I will have to pluck up the courage to tell her

The blonde looks really ginger and it’s just a mess. She has told me to put silver shampoo on for the blonde (not blonde)..

Would a box dye from Asda/Tesco cover this monstrosity up?

I am not a hairdresser. It is difficult to tell from the photo what the issue is? What look where you going for?
Purple shampoo will dull down orange/brass.

Don't put a box dye over it, if you need to, then go to another hairdresser and ask them to correct it Smile

FAQs · 07/03/2020 14:09

I can't see any ginger?

bobstersmum · 07/03/2020 14:09

I think it will calm down? Silver shampoo will help take the brassiness out and id get a deep conditioning treatment and leave it on for as long as possible. What did you ask for?

Hairprobz672 · 07/03/2020 14:11

The photos aren’t great il admit. We had agreed to lighten up the hair a little bit as it was all over brown. The blonde just looks like bits of straw. My husband isn’t one to comment on my hair but he has even said it looks ridiculous so it must be bad!

I had all over brown with some blonde in the ends, I was happy to keep it as it is but she mentioned the brown on top was abit much and she would lighten it up abit.

Were they bleach highlights? It looks like it hasn’t been left on long enough to lift the colour. The photo doesn’t really look ginger though - a little bit brassy blond but that’s easily fixed with toner. I’d try some blue shampoo, or ask if she can put a blue toner on it for you. I definitely would not recommend using a box dye immediately after having colour, especially more so if it has been bleached. It quite hard to tell from the photo though. I would honestly just tell her what is making you unhappy, any good hairdresser will want to fix it.

Bluntness100 · 07/03/2020 14:13

I also can’t see any ginger, but is the issue the ginger or the condition? You seem to have blonde streaks.

titchy · 07/03/2020 14:13

Why on earth would you ask her given that she's 'mucked it up a few times' before?

Bluntness100 · 07/03/2020 14:13

And no don’t dye it again. Someone I know did that and it turned green. Genuinely.

Gamble66 · 07/03/2020 14:20

Hairdresser - 1. Get a really good quality silver shampoo NOT that one from B&M (drying beyond belief)

  1. Use a deep conditioner/hair mask
  2. Get a backbone and find a decent hairdresser next time x
dontgobaconmyheart · 07/03/2020 14:21

It doesn't look ginger and is hard to tell really OP, are you going grey? Was the hair fully brown at the top before? What was the condition prior?

It just looks a bit like bleach highlights that failed to lift, but the coarse hairs just look like grey hairs. I can't see any ginger.

Don't put a box dye on it, wash it and put a toning treatment and a good quality conditioning treatment on the whole head and see where you're at after that. If it's not right I'd see a proper hairdresser and have them sort it.

Your DH saying it looks ridiculous is very unhelpful and unpleasant Hmm

Hairprobz672 · 07/03/2020 14:22

Yes they are bleach highlights. I agree the photos don’t look ginger but can assure you it is. I’m a natural red head so blonde can be a nuisance on my hair but she told me it would be fine. The issue is the colour it looks horrendous and I don’t know how to fix it. The photos definitely don’t show the right colour.

Once she washed my colour she put a toner and a rinse on and it still looks like this Sad

Hair was fully brown at the top and in great condition.. I’m not going grey either, I’m only 26 Blush

Might be worth a trip to the hairdresser ! Thing is they can tell you what sort of colour would look best .In future best to check back of box as will advise which colour works best .I have light brown hair and use a well known hair colour which works well with my actual colour. If shes done it once may happen again,so let her know you will be going to a hairdresser from now on!

PeterPanGoesWrong · 07/03/2020 14:57

Osmo super silver shampoo will tone the blonde down from a yellow to a beautiful ash. It’s available on Amazon.

diddl · 07/03/2020 15:32

So red hair dyed brown & then partly bleached?

Would that ever work?

Hope you find a solution, Op.

Notredamn · 07/03/2020 16:46

I can see salt and pepper silver hair in those photos. In which case you definitely need to go to a good colourist, if it's supposed be blond/brown.
