I'm off to a wedding in May and need a new dress. I found a picture of this dress online but couldn't find the name of the shop to buy it anywhereShock

Does anyone know where to get something similar? Or what this cut/ style of dress is called? Help!

@rachll
I'm very impressed with myself Grin
It really is a Suzannah dress from about 2013. Called the 50s Oriental Bloom Silk Dress.

Ok, now I've recovered from my own smuggery....the key thing about these dresses is that there is a bell-shaped skirt, rather than a full skirt with a petticoat underneath.

If you want to veer more towards rockabilly territory, check out pretty kitty or the pretty little dress company.

If you want something which is more 50s cocktail dress (as the Suzannah is) then you have to plump for a fabric which has enough weight to it (such as a jacquard). I think this is the closest shape to the original dress. I'll have a look.

What are your preferences on colour/pattern?

VenusClapTrap- I love the spotty dress too! SmileBut when I looked at the reviews for Missfiga where it's from, they were dreadful! I wonder if it's available from anywhere elseHmm

There are loads of that style on eBay x

Is it the shape or the colour that really calls to you?

This has a similar shape and vibe but the flowers are pink rather than yellow.

@nowlook, I'm impressed with you too! Thank you for finding the dress but my budget can't stretch to SuzannahShock
Thanks for all the advice and ideas. I'd like something with a bit of a pattern but I'm not too keen on hugely floral patterns!

@ElizabethinherGermanGarden- thanks for those links- they are lovely and just the right shape. I think I might go for something just above the knee though. Such good ideas and inspirationSmile

Closet do lots of those kind of dresses, or at least used to. Thick fabric, tulip shape skirt, structured. And pockets!

They are my go to wedding guest dresses.

Thanks @clevername- I will check out Closet especially as I love pockets in a dress!
