Talk to me about extensions

So my hair currently is at that awkward stage of not being short but also not being long and I just feel it looks so limp and lifeless.
I’m totally torn between having it cut into a bob or getting extensions.
I’m curious about cutting it short but also terrified as I’m not sure it will suit me. However I know long hair suits me and I just wish mine was thick enough to properly grow so I’m considering extensions. But I don’t know the first place to start!
I’m in London so imagine it’ll be fairly pricey. How much is the initial outlay? Which type are best? How often do you need them redone? Also my usual hairdresser doesn’t do them so would I go to her for my cut and highlights and then get extensions somewhere else? Or does the extension person do the whole thing??

I had drab lifeless hair that hung to almost bra length but thin and crap. I got it chopped to just below my shoulders and it looks so much healthier. I can add a bit of wave with a wand and it looks much more modern.

So day to day I'm happy but I did miss the length. I bought clip in extensions from a company called milk & blush with my Xmas money. I can't recommend them enough! I thought it would be a nightmare to clip them in but it takes me 10 minutes max. They give me thick luxurious rapunzel like hair when I want it but without the daily hassle.

I had them recently for my wedding. I did lots of research and went for Great Lengths which my local salon did. I only had them to add thickness not length and had around 40 bonds - cost £250. For length and more thickness it was the £700 mark. great lengths

They looked amazing but I hated them!! I pulled each one out in my drive home from my wedding!! They're hard work, you have to keep brushing otherwise they look scraggly. The thing I couldn't live with was the bonds, trying to sleep was like having 40 hard peas pressed into my head, soooo uncomfortable.

Many people have them though so maybe it's just me!

My usual hair dresser did the colour and cut then I went a week later to another stylist at my salon who did them. They can last 4-6 months. Depending on how many bonds you have you're looking at towards £700-1k roughly. Great lengths do human hair which did look very natural.

@vaz119 how did you know which colour to order for your hair? It might be best for me to try out clip ins first, I can’t believe how expensive it is to get real ones put in!

I took some pictures standing in day light with no filters and emailed them and they recommended a colour. When they arrive you get one piece that to do a colour test with,before you open the package and break the non returnable seal
