When did you start getting grey hairs?

I've noticed the odd grey hair since I was about 24, but now I'm in my late 20s it's getting more frequent Sad

I have dark hair which doesn't help, but wonder if I'm too young for this to be happening to me!

I have to die my hair frequently to mask it Blush

I'm 37 and I'm very lucky to have no grey hair! I'm mousey brown with the odd golden tone through it. The only dye I have currently is right at the bottom which im growing out.

Lucked · 04/03/2020 21:44

Probably around 40, I am 43 and have just started colouring it as it the grey hairs were getting noticeable in my parting.

MamaFlintstone · 04/03/2020 21:45

18! Bloody genetics. I’m very dark so it’s noticeable. Been dyeing over the greys for about 15 years now.

But yes I do think it is because you have dark hair, all my properly brunette friends went grey before the mousey/fair haired women in my friendship group and I went to university with someone that was fully grey at 26.

TheSparkling · 04/03/2020 21:49

A few months ago - I am nearly 43, similar to my DM who only started to grey in her late forties.

I have two at the side, I do have brown hair but it is not enough to tempt to me to dye it yet.

Habibtihayati · 04/03/2020 21:49

39, I dyed my hair for the first time on my 40th birthday and quickly decided it's not worth the effort as there are only a few.

picklebarrelfalls · 04/03/2020 21:52

I'm 37 and not seen one yet, my mum is 70 this year and still only has a smattering. She's definitely getting more and more but still probably 60/40 in favour of brunette.

PontiacBandit · 04/03/2020 21:55

19 was my first one. I'm not prepared to grey gracefully. Costs a fortune in root touch ups every month.

  1. Mousey. Stopped dyeing 20 years ago at 36 (due to reaction to dye). Now naturally silvery/blonde. Quite like it.
Juanmorebeer · 04/03/2020 21:57
  1. Cheers Mum. I do dye it darker than my natural colour (at home perm box dye) but it doesn't last long and is gone within 2 weeks. I'm not even 5% grey all through but I think what I have is really obvious. I hate it. I'm only 32
homemadecommunistrussia · 04/03/2020 21:58

Mid 40s, but just the odd one.

Pipandmum · 04/03/2020 21:58
  1. At 22 decided no more hair dye, then next haircut and hairdresser asks how old I am as I had 'a lot of grey hair for some one your age'. Went straight off to get more hair dye.
MrsJonesAndMe · 04/03/2020 22:03

Mid to late 20s

MrsGrindah · 04/03/2020 22:06

Late teens here ..yet my sister didn’t get a single one till her early fifties!

LavenderHills · 04/03/2020 22:07

I'm starting to get a lot of them now at 35, and I'm determined I won't be dyeing my hair. Check out the Grombre instagram account for gorgeous, sexy grey hair inspiration!

QueSera · 04/03/2020 22:08

Age 19. It runs in my family Angry

Meme05 · 04/03/2020 22:09

Mid 40s, just the odd one too.

QuestionableMouse · 04/03/2020 22:09

About the same age as you.

Zinnia · 04/03/2020 22:10

In my late 20s with the odd hair at the front. My hair is on the darker side of mid brown.
DH is 47 and has just recently got a couple of grey hairs behind his ears bastard. His DM started going grey in her 80s!!

DramaAlpaca · 04/03/2020 22:13

None at all yet & I'm 55.

It's genetic. My mother still has no grey at 83 and her mother only started going grey in her 90s. I take after them and not my dad, who was completely grey before he was 35.

OhTheRoses · 04/03/2020 22:13

Odd one from about 28 to 50. Probably about 20% to 30% grey at almost 60. Naturally wild rodent, highlighted from about 17. Now have three colours put through every 6 weeks and am blondey/brown which blends the grey nicely. Wouldn't mind if it was even but I am grey at the front and dark at the back.

LavenderHills · 04/03/2020 22:13

Adding some lovely grey hair shots to make use all feel better.
