Hello everyone! I'm in a bit of a pickle and would appreciate any recommendations!
I had my second baby in 2018 and -unlike with my first pregnancy- I put on some considerable weight during the pregnancy. This changed my body and I kind of got into the habit of only wearing black "sporty" clothes to cover everything up. But in the past 6 months I've managed to loose about 7kg and I'm rediscovering my body.
I'm sure a lot of you can relate but with this weight loss I'm trying to get reinterested in clothes and find my style. My husband says I should just book a personal styling session at one of the department stores (John Lewis or Selfridges) but I'm about the minimum spend, and tbh I feel a bit intimidated by these places. Is there any more "friendly" option? Has anyone tried an Online styling service?

trytuesday.com might be worth a try for inspiration? its free so no obligation to buy but It could give some ideas. I have also heard of people hiring a personal stylist to come round charity shops with them, to help them find great deals that flatter them, which could be an idea since you want to spend less and it could be less intimidating?

John Lewis are generally nice I find, no pressure to buy anything at all, and even if you do, and change your mind, you can take it straight back to a normal till.

Ie, you don’t have to face the stylist with your return!

Trytuesday as recommended by someone else. Great suggestions and all free.

Careful @Mammabear31 or the big bad legal experts will come for you

TryTuesday suggestions were awful for me. Nothing like the style I said I liked and colours completely wrong for my season.

I liked the try Tuesday outfits but wouldn’t say they were suitable for my shape

If using an online stylist, ask for an example of their work.

If you see poorly written, badly edited PDFs with generic, contradictory advice, save your money for a good personal shopper.

John lewis.

John Lewis.

If using others, you may want to research how they react to well-meaning customer feedback before parting with your money Smile

John Lewis put me in super frumpy clothes.
Only good buy was the coat that I spotted on the way out Smile

John Lewis stylist kept getting me to try really shapeless tops. I wanted fitted tailored clothes for a new job. Only bought one thing - a pair of black trousers. So uninspired.
