Previous thread

What will tomorrow bring for Kate? Does her love for green know no end?

And Thursday night sees the return of Meghan! I know she can be polarising so let's stick to just discussing her clothes rather than the intricacies of Megxit. There's plenty of other threads to do that!

I love that aquamarine ring.

I wonder if you have to do 5 years dutiful service then you get shown the vaults Wink

mrscampbellblackagain · 08/03/2020 16:58

so what do we predict they will wear tomorrow?

Kate should rewear the outfit she wore to Eugenie's wedding - she looked great then.

Meghan could rewear the dress she wore when she went on her outing with the Queen - she looked fab in that.

Lunde · 08/03/2020 16:58

The red outfit looked amazing last night - a real "red carpet" look.

The school outfit was a bit more meh - I think the towering, very pointy shoes made the outfit look unbalanced. Some low heeled loafers would have been a much better look with the cropped trousers. A rare miss here because M usually nails smart casual

NoGravyForYou · 08/03/2020 17:02

Do we know what Meghan wore to church this morning?

Haven't we been spoiled this week with all the engagements.

FATEdestiny · 08/03/2020 17:04

I think the title of ‘Duel of the Duchesses’ has caused a different tone to this thread.

Agree. Right at the start of the thread I thought it's be trouble.

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/03/2020 17:07

@NoGravyForYou It looked like a navy fascination and navy dress with white detailing at the neckline.

Oh well. We can fill this thread tomorrow and move on to a less inflammatory title...

NoGravyForYou · 08/03/2020 17:08

Thanks Queen.

The earrings look cute!

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/03/2020 17:10

The thread title was meant to be tongue in cheek but I should've known that any reference to Meghan would result in discord - it happened last time as well. I think the next thread will reference maxima's Indonesian trip in the title, just to ensure peace!

I tried on Meghan's white blouse in Topshop today but as is the case with many things, it doesn't look nearly as good in person.

It's more an off-white colour akin to what happens to net curtains over time as they yellow. It's also fairly cropped so unless you like high waisted skirts or trousers (which I don't) you end up revealing an inch or so of abdomen!

@frugalkitty
if I'd been asked to say who came in for the most flack on these threads I'd have said Meghan rather than Kate
I think you are right but I can't think of a personal comment about Meghan that has been left unchallenged. I do think that from time to time there are comments that cross the wearer/clothes line made about Kate without being pulled up. But I can understand why because of all the crap that gets thrown at Meghan elsewhere I think we are all more hyper aware of any criticism of her rather than her clothes on here and do call posters out on it. (Ohh that and the fact that some people seem to think it's OK to comment on thinness in a way that would be unacceptable to comment of fatness.)

mistermagpie · 08/03/2020 17:41

Poor bloody Meghan could never win, no matter what she did. The woman never actually did a single thing 'wrong' and yet the abuse hurled at her has been astonishing. I like this thread (generally) because the focus on fashion only means it has been a lot fairer towards her.

I've read every single thread in this series quite recently and I'd say that both Kate and Meghan's wardrobes receive similar amounts of criticism - Kate's 'boring' coat dresses and literal dressing, Megan's pregnancy wardrobe generally and subsequent belted dress phase etc. Personally I like them both, I really admire Kate and I think Meghan has acted with real grace in the face of some horrific treatment. I wish her and Harry well.

Anyway, on her school outfit - I liked it but it was a rare shoe fail for her in my opinion. She is beautiful though, I'd give my right arm for her skin!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 08/03/2020 17:47

I've certainly called out body shaming comments about Kate's thinness on previous threads but if there's been some on this one then I've missed them. I think saying she's thin is just stating a fact. She is very slim. In the past this sometimes crossed over into using words like "scrawny" and speculation about eating disorders, which I definitely called out.

ajandjjmum · 08/03/2020 17:54

Of course she made mistakes - the person who doesn't make mistakes is the person who does nothing. She has had a lot of flack for it though.

Whattheother2catsprefer · 08/03/2020 18:11

@QueenOfTheAndals I know you do often call out comments that cross the line but I can think of a few that to me cross the line re Kate (I think it "seems" nasty to call someone dim because of the clothes they wear whether you say they are dim or that they seem dim) that have been let go but I can't think of any about Meghan that have (I can't guarantee that I have read every single post on the threads ever so there might have been a similar remark that was let go but not one that I've noticed).

mistermagpie · 08/03/2020 18:31

ajandjj - sure, maybe some bad decisions, she's a human being. But she hasn't killed anyone - she did things like wrote some naff things on bananas, wore a really ridiculously expensive dress that time and didn't want the world to know she was in labour - hardly the crimes of the century, that's all I was meaning.

mrscampbellblackagain · 08/03/2020 18:39

I really think the problem is with the roles of the Royals. I don't care to be lectured by any of them because none of them are experts in anything apart from being royals/being born into the royal family/marrying into the royal family.

Today more than ever I just think when they start lecturing on anything it just seems slightly ridiculous. I mean I take as much notice of any of them as I do - well some random I am sat next to at cricket.

FiveTwoFaster · 08/03/2020 18:42

The one unanimous point of agreement on this thread is that Prince Edward has got to get rid of his double breasted suits.

itswinetime · 08/03/2020 18:44

@FiveTwoFaster Well......Wink

Indeed we can all agree the double breasted suits are bad can I tag on the fleeces William is so attached to at the moment?

allibaby · 08/03/2020 18:47

@frugalkitty Adifference of opinion is good and I don't think I have said otherwise.

I also agree that the earlier threads did seem to give Meghan more negative comments but they were jumped on immediately and those negative posters seemed to move on elsewhere.

However the bitchy comments towards Kate are left unchallenged and excused as "joking" or "tongue in cheek" which is absolute rubbish.
They are bitchy and horrible, simple as that really.

Oh and the thread title is nothing to do with my comments by the way.

mistermagpie · 08/03/2020 18:48

It's the 'jumper/fleece under jacket' thing that William does that needs to go I think, my FIL sports that look constantly and he's 70!

paradyning · 08/03/2020 18:58

Oh my god give it a bloody rest. We've had days of this now.
Roll on Max and Wax.

paradyning · 08/03/2020 19:00

I disagree about Megs' shoes! I love them! Love the little foot bracelet thingy.

FiveTwoFaster · 08/03/2020 19:10

God yes - I’d forgotten about the jumper / fleece / jacket combo! Get the man a thermal vest so he can be discreet in his ill advised layering.

Spudlet · 08/03/2020 19:15

I’m not even opposed to the slightly scratty looking fleece things - my DH practically lives in similar. He does not, however, layer them under a jacket. Bad Wills, bad.
