Botox no effects

wink1970 · 03/03/2020 11:56

Hi, I had my first Botox a fortnight ago, and other than a stinking headache every day I have had very little change. I'm finding it harder to frown, but frown lines were not my issue anyway, I was interested in eyebrow/eye lift.

Has anyone had a similar start?

TIA.

After two weeks you should be able to tell. Did you tell the dr/nurse you wanted more of a lift ?

wink1970 · 03/03/2020 12:28

Hi @userxx yes that was the consultation; I had originally booked in to talk about a half-face thread lift as I wanted an eyebrow lift; she said I didn't need that yet, suggested Botox was step 1, then fillers step 2.

NB (not that it should matter) but she is a well-known Dr, bloody expensive!

Go back and explain why you’re unhappy! She should correct it (where possible)!

Did you not book a follow-up consultation ? From memory I went back after 3 weeeks to check everything was as it should be.

wink1970 · 03/03/2020 13:43

yes I have booked a consultation - meant to be tomorrow but I'm stacked with work so I just moved it to next week. Maybe I just need more time? It's made me think about stage 2, fillers.

Next week is better, it will give more time for it to kick in. Where are you having the filler? Until you are happy with the botox results I wouldnt be paying for anything else. Filler is more expensive then botox and it sounds like you've spent enough already!

Freshnewus · 03/03/2020 13:56

Whilst most people should have noticed their final result at 2 weeks. It can take up to 3 for some people.

Botox isn't effective for everyone. Some people are resistant entirely, some need a double dose, some find it only lasts 8 weeks.

Book in for a review and they will explain this and probably offer you some more.

wink1970 · 03/03/2020 16:52

Thanks for the responses.

I wondered if I might be resistant but my central forehead is starting to tighten (that's the bit I'm not bothered about, maybe it will have a knock on effect like ice sheets spreading Grin ).

I will update, in case anyone else has similar.

My body destroys botox as soon as it goes in. The first time I tried it, I went back to the doctor six times at fortnightly intervals. I should have had a forehead set like concrete, but there was no difference. I tried again, different doctor, same result - except this time I gave up after three sets of injections.

I hope you're not the same!

Botox has many contraindications. You need to pick up the dose very carefully.

Freshnewus · 05/03/2020 21:40

@wink1970 Has the Botox taken effect yet?

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 05/03/2020 21:58

Usually clinics offer a top up at 2 weeks so if you still have too much movement/not the desired effect they can tweek it.

wink1970 · 06/03/2020 08:27

Hi @Freshnewus no it hasn't. Well not as I expected anyway. My centre forehead (the 11 area) is decreasing in mobility but nothing else has taken, so I will presume it's just a top up needed on the eyebrows/crows feet area.

I have a checkup booked for next week, I'll keep you posted. My headaches are getting better, down to just first thing, presumably as I am a big frowner in my sleep.

Some people (usually men and people who have good muscle tone/gym bunnies) require double the dose, or even more. Also there's a few different brands of toxin you can try, so next time you book in, you could ask the practitioner to use a different brand on you.
