Primark Make-up - as good as I'm hearing? If so which products?

I've read a few things recently (including on MN) suggesting there are some great Primark makes up/ beauty products. I like quality products but recognise this doesn't mean the most expensive.
What are your top cosmetic buys from Primark and why? And as importantly, what would you not buy again? Thanks

The make up remover cloths that you only need water with then throw in washing machine are brilliant

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 03/03/2020 11:02

Thank you @iloveredwine , I like the sound of those

Im a big fan of their matte lipsticks

TeddyIsaHe · 03/03/2020 11:12

Most of their stuff is good tbh, and it’s so cheap it doesn’t matter if you don’t get on with it.

Their tinted lip oil is better than the Lancôme one and it’s £2 instead of £30! I love their Double Wear dupe (£5) and their liquid eyeliner. Go and have a play and pick up some bits.

Are the eyeshadows pigmented well? I think they have a lot of choice but have been swayed by pretty colours before and ended up with products that don't stick around on my skin for long. Also I have sensitive skin, I find a lot of cheaper brands eg Collection bring me out in a rash, although some, like Barry M, are fine. Has anyone had any reactions from Primark products?

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 03/03/2020 11:22

@AndNoneForGretchenWieners I've had a couple of lovely eyeshadows from Kiko, great pigmentation - but I don't have any sensitivity so couldn't comment on that aspect

The eyeshadows don't have a good colour payoff and the highlighters aren't great. I use revolution products especially eyeshadows and they are brilliant. Primark eyeliner pens, lipsticks, loose powder and mascara are good. I haven't tried everything because I like what I use. The makeup brushes are good and some of the beauty tools.

The velvet matte lip crayon is my favourite. The kohl eye liner, brow sketch and mascara are good too. I find it surprisingly good for the price.

SionnachGeal70 · 03/03/2020 14:30

I have Brow Sketch (a little crumbly but fine for the money), £1 nail polishes (decent last with their top coat), the matte foundation in the square bottle (brilliant), loads of make up brushes, Wonder Lash mascara (decent). I'm fancying this lip oil Teddy mentions - not seen that ....

TeddyIsaHe · 03/03/2020 14:39

@SionnachGeal70 it’s in a kit with a lip butter/primer thing.

It looks like this if the photo attaches!

The lipsticks at 90p are great for the price, the eyelashes at £1 are very good, I've bought the matte foundation at £3 numerous times, and it's quite long-wearing, good coverage, and doesn't look pancaked on, but the shade range is shit, the nail polishes at 60p are good but very small bottles, the gel effect nail polishes at £1 are absolutely great, the brushes are some of the best I've tried, the lash queen mascara in the rose gold tube is £3 and amazing, the blending sponges are good for what little time they last as they tear very easily, so avoid those. HTH

I loved their mascara - it made my lashes look great especially for the small price tag - until my lashes started falling out and going sparse.... The mascara was the only thing i was doing differently, stopped using it a few months back and eyelashes back to normal...… just a thought for anyone especially with sensitivities

TeddyIsaHe · 03/03/2020 15:03

Ooh also the 3-in-1 brow pencil/spoolie/powder is vvv good.

Cinderemma · 03/03/2020 15:04

Their mascara in a Gold Tube is my favourite really lengthens my lashes

Wonkybanana · 03/03/2020 17:12

Not make up, but I've found all their nail stuff to be excellent - base coat, polishes and top coat.

ElspethFlashman · 03/03/2020 17:41

I really rate the matte foundation in the square bottle. You'd never know it was so cheap.

Also only ever buy false eyelashes from there.

I didn't like the Lash Paradise dupe, it smudged a bit, but I have about a dozen of the make up remover cloths, I even use them on the kids grubby faces as you just need water and they really do clean well. And they're fleece so the kids don't object to the feel of them.

slinkysaluki · 03/03/2020 18:00

Yes the Perfect Finish foundation is brilliant and the gel nail varnish, and the lipstick/gloss. Mas ara supposed to be great too but not tried that yet

Junobug · 03/03/2020 18:11

I love the perfect finish foundation. It's a really good everyday foundation that just evens skin tone. I also rate the gel nail varnish and 90p lipstick. Great for the price.

malvinna · 03/03/2020 18:13

I use a tester when choosing cosmetics. Also for me the important factor is the smell of lipstick, mascara, powder, etc.

Bananaman123 · 03/03/2020 19:26

Love the makeup cloths, game changer for me
Eyeshadows good pigment and eyeshadow primer if you can find it
Lipsticks are gorgeous and cheap
Lipliners too
Oval cotton pads, nice and soft on skin
Makeup brushs, the pro ones are amazing quality for price

Broadwayb · 03/03/2020 19:44

I have a really good foundation from Primark in a square glass bottle. I think it’s called My Perfect Colour and was a fiver. It’s impressive for the price.

zippyswife · 03/03/2020 19:50

How do the make up cloths work?
