Spray tanning for dummies

Ok S&B experts, I need you to educate me please....!

I've had maybe 2-3 spray tans in the past, always for a big night out, or a wedding etc, so I've only ever 'needed' the tan to last for a day. But, I really like the idea of getting a tan for my holiday this year, but if I’m to do that, I’d need it to be able to last more than a day or two.

How do you make it last for longer, without it looking really grotty and patchy?! What about shaving your legs…. presumably I’d shave the day before the tan, but then I'll need to be shaving regularly while I'm away... will that remove a lot of the tan?

Talk me through your processes please Smile

Exfoliate and shave before the spray tan and do as little of both as possible afterwards.

No moisturiser on tanning day. Leave as long as possible, cool shower and lightly pat dry when you absolutely must.

I doubt you want to do this on holiday, but avoiding both chlorinated and salt water will make it last longer too!

As it wears off will it just go patchy?

Ive never had a spray tan as i am fairly good at doing it myself. One of the reason why though, is that i am a bit fat and hate my body (I'm a 16 and currently doing WW so could be smaller by summer).

Do you take all your clothes off? Aren't you extremely embarrassed???? I would like a spray tan but would be mortified to reveal my crappy body to a lovely beautician.

OP, if you have your legs waxed a day or two before the spray tan, you wouldn't need to shave while on holiday.

Would you consider waxing? I always get a spray tan before holidays and get a wax 2/3 days before the spray tan, plus exfoliate the day before or morning of. Not having to shave my legs makes it last so much longer! Also avoid chlorinated pools if possible and make sure to use an oil free sun cream when you’re away.

@BigusBumus the automated machine ones are the way forward if you’re self conscious! The tanning shop brand which are in most towns/cities have machines which I’ve never had a problem with, the colour is always lovely and very even. Much cheaper than having a person do one as well.
