Primers and pores

Can anyone recommend a primer that might fill in large pores a bit and make a good base so I can wear a less heavy foundation please. I wear ESL double wear at the moment but now I’ve reached 50 I’ve noticed it seems more ageing as it sits in fine lines. I’d like to create a smooth base so I can wear double wear light. I have combination skin, open pores and some scarring 🥴

Benefit Porefessional is pretty good.

Hi OP ! 👋 I have similar skin to yours and the only two that have worked for me are
Benefits "pore fection "
And The ordinary "high adherence primer".
I know you probably don't need advising to leave your moisturiser to sink in for a good while BEFORE applying primer but I didn't know 😳. ALSO (and this blew my tiny little mind) ... leave your primer to "take" for about 5 mins before applying your foundation xx

My Dsd swears by benefits porefessional

Forrandomposts · 01/03/2020 19:53

Benefit porefessional is great unless you have dry skin. Then it's a nightmare!

OxanaVorontsova · 01/03/2020 19:56

Similar skin to yours OP and I really rate this one by Urban Decay

Thanks for the advice. Great tips about letting everything soak in/settle before foundation @JenNtonic

OP, EL have a new foundation that has literally just launched here in the UK. It is in a pump tube. It is fantastic for mature skin. SLightly glowy (not greasy) long wearing and can be worn sheer or built up. It is a new favourite of mine.

I rate Flower Beauty Celestial Beauty

Pore fessional or the ordinary do one cheaper and not too far off the mark
Any pore reducing advice welcome here too !

Not a primer but I’ve found using niacinimide from The Ordinary has made a huge difference to my pores

Beautifullymixed · 01/03/2020 23:42

Me too Hermione it really does shrink them doesn't it!

I also rate glycolic acid, as well as oil cleansing for really cleaning out the pores and keeping them under control.

I have been using Elf poreless putty primer lately, and love the hydrating and smoothing effect.
I also dot a bit of Maybelline baby skin on my nose pores before foundation too.

Lastly, I press setting powder firmly into the pores with a damp beauty sponge.
Bare minerals mineral veil, Too face peach setting powder, Elf HD powder and Innisfree no sebum powder work really well for this.
My pores are as small as they ever will be.

I think i must be the only person who found porefessional to be rubbish :( it made no difference to my skin whatsoever!
