Dyeing viscose

I'd like to dye a viscose dress. It's an ivory and black print and I'd like to dye the ivory a dark colour like plum or deep green. I think it should work - anyone done similar successfully?

It is a seamless dress? Otherwise, I don’t think the dye will take to any thread sewn in, or the seams.

Stitching is black so that shouldn't be a problem.

I've found viscous dyes ok. I've also used dye a couple of times on black and white stripey Ts with good results (i.e. only the white stripes have taken the new colour). I think the main risk, other than the stitching, is that dyeing the cream might not give you the colour you're hoping for, e.g. if there are yellow undertones. To give you an example, I once tried dark grey dye on a beige jumper and it came out a sludgy green - which as it happens I really like but it was nothing like I'd planned!

I've dyed viscose a couple of times and found it does take (though you can't wash viscose at 60 deg which is what Dylon, for example, recommend). I do it at 40 deg and get a more muted version of the dye than you would expect with cotton. See all the people who have successfully dyed "that Zara dress" from last summer as an indicator, though that's white rather than cream.

As a PP mentioned, I have dyed the Xara dress (dark grey & khaki) & aside from spending ages having to Jean my washing machine afterwards, it came out fine both times

I think I'm going to give it a go. Am also going to shorten it from midi to on the knee if the dyeing is successful. I have another one that I'm keeping the original colour and length.
