I'm looking for some hair dye advice. I'm naturally a dark ash blonde (and starting to go grey) but have been dyeing my hair a bit lighter for years, but no matter what hair dye I use, it always seems to end up very golden, bordering on ginger. I always buy ash blonde dye, and use purple shampoo, but I just can't get rid of the gold.
I've tried lightening my hair with bleach a fair bit and then using an ash blonde dye, but end up with the same result, and I've also tried most of the toners I can find in Boots/Superdrug, which seem to do nothing. I work long shifts so don't have time to go to the hairdressers other than for a hair cut (and there are very few around where I live making it even harder to have the time for colouring). My hair is in pretty good condition considering all the dyeing, I just want to get it to an ashy colour! Does anyone have any advice?
