At the age of 34 I should know this but nope! My make up always looks rubbish in photos so I’ve been trying out new looks. I’ve always worn a pale beige type foundation but in the winter it looks orange, so I recently bought a buff colour but that looked sort of grey. I’ve done lots of reading on figuring out undertones and what to buy I realised I’d been wearing a warm toned colour initially and the buff was a neutral, I now believe I’m cool toned so I purchased a cool toned foundation in vanilla but it’s still not right! It makes my white skin look pink and like my make up has worn off. I have been matched by Estée Lauder previously but I looked yellow with that, now what??

I wonder if the shade is too dark for you?

Sometimes though you have to just try lots of different shades and brands before you find a good match. My skin is cool to neutral and I find pink toned foundations really tricky and tend to stick with neutral in a shade with matches my neck. Try Nars or Clarins- they have great shade ranges. Always ask for a sample too which you can try at home in your own time- I generally think the sales assistants are fans of overly done too dark foundation and choose the same for their customers too Grin. No sample=no purchase when I'm shopping!

I've had this problem.

For me, the solution was finding a foundation without SPF. SPF causes oxidisation and the orange tone. I now use Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk, or No 7 Hydroluminous. They're both game changers for my skin. I also go a shade paler than I should, and I end up with a lovely glow and no orange tones.
