How to make hair soft?!

It’s in great condition - no splits, lovely and shiny and dark and wavy and very thick but stroking it is always such a disappointment.

I’d liken it to horsehair in texture

It’s always been that way, is their a magical product out there somewhere that can make it soft?

And yes I have tried conditioner, I never heat style either, it makes no difference.
I don’t believe the hair is damaged, it just seems to naturally have this horrible texture.

Pureology shampoo and conditioner made mine soft but is £££

I got my hair to a lovely texture using shampoo with no silicone and no conditioner at all. It took a few washes to get there (I assume because of a build up of crap on my hair) but now it’s soft and shiny.

Extraordinary oil conditioner made my thick hair soft and shiny. I leave it to dry naturally and blow dry to finish and smooth the hair.

Following with interest as my hair is exactly the same.

The problem is that the hair is very strong, and feels coarse, but actually grows in very good condition. So intensive conditioners don't help. I still have strong, coarse hair but with the conditioner it's now greasy to boot.

Strengthening products don't help either. The last thing my hair needs is to be stronger.

Like the OP I'm still looking for a miracle product that softens without trying to do anything else.
