To chop or not...what do you think? (With photo)

I have a lot of hair, that badly needs a cut (and is starting to get a few greys). I'm trying to decide if I just go for a trim or to chop a load off. At the minute I wear it up 98% of the time as I'm running around after small kids but also because it takes me forever to style or straighten and I'm not very good at it.

I thought that by taking some of the length and weight out of it it would be easier to style down, but still be long enough to wear up. It would also be quicker to dye when they grey annoys me. Just don't want to chop and regret it.

Do you think I'd suit a long bob like this? It could either be straighted or be left a bit wild and wavy depending on time and mood.

Thank you!

Also maybe take the colour a bit lighter. It looks a bit dark on you. Perhaps some auburn would be good

If you're after Matrix, order from Lookfantastic or Notino - they're professional conditioners and not sure if you'd get them in Superdrug (and in any event they'd be much dearer). These two websites have the best prices 👌

Honestly your hair is so beautiful I would just take a little from the end, don't mess around with layers that never look like they did first day, just a neat trim, the body and volume you have in your hair is beautiful, just prune and look after the beautiful hair you have! I have super long hair and it's a pain but I do love it, just wish I was more skilled to do more and present it better!

I had not dyed my hair in 15yrs but have a good few greys poking through so I've started to lighten with very subtle mesh pre lights and will keep adding more a few times a year til I can rock a full head of light hair! My colour is very similar to yours

Do not colour it is gorgeous. Shorter would be good though, go to a hairdresser who works with what you've got rather than try to thin or give you a style that isn't suitable for your hair type.

I think your hair is lovely. I think it would be even more lovely and have more body a bit shorter. It is being dragged down by the length. Yours would be different from the photo when shorter, but showcase better as it would be more bouffant. It will be easier to maintain. Worst case scenario is that you can let it grow again if you don't like it.

Your skin is beautiful.
