Hi .
My mum is looking for some ideas for her clothes shopping. She was a devout BHS fan & is lost without them.
She is in her 70s, & 5ft tall, so needs petite lengths but is a size 16.
She doesn't want mega pricey either.
Any good suggestions as to which stores or websites she should use please ?

I tend to get stuff for my mum from Damart. Also used Bon Marche and M&S. Damart do short leg lengths in trousers.

@shinynewapple2020
Thank you. I've ordered a damart brochure. She says m & s is too " old lady " 😆.
Have bought a couple of things for her in bon marche in the past.

Has she looked at Kettlewell Colours or Woolovers?

Atalune · 22/02/2020 16:47

What does she like to wear?

New look does shorter lengths as does H and M. Some tapered trousers with some organic cotton tops?

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 22/02/2020 16:48

Cotton Traders if you pick carefully.

Ambrose Wilson

I saw some quite nice trousers in M&S yesterday that would be nice with maybe turtle neck jumpers or just crew neck jumpers, or with a t-shirt and cardigan.

My mum is 70. She wears clothes from M&Co also Next & Dorothy Perkins

My mum liked

Me and Co
Roman
Marks and Spencer’s
Joules
White stuff

RossPoldarkFan · 22/02/2020 17:34

If she thinks M&S is old lady, she won't like Damart. Some M&S stuff looks younger. Sainsbury's TU is quite good and cheap. Wallis do petite sizing and are not too old looking. White Stuff and Seasalt are a little more expensive but casual and modern.
If she is petite, most shops will have something suitable. The biggest issue for buying clothes is being very large rather than old.

YouStupidBoy · 22/02/2020 17:37

My Mum is in her 70s and 4ft11, she loves White Stuff and Seasalt - she is very petite altogether though and very colourful in her dress (and always looks right....unlike me!!!!).

gillys · 22/02/2020 17:41

Thank you everyone. She now has a list & will inspect the websites.

Oh sorry, no if she thinks M&S is old lady she definitely wouldn't want Damart! To be fair my mum is in her 80's. J D Williams?

goose1964 · 23/02/2020 15:59

Patra for tops, most of the bottom halves are knee length, as are dresses but they may work as longer length as she's shorter. I've a couple of the dresses and they appear good quality. Plus they're mainly natural fibres.

Edinburgh Woollen Mill works well for my MiL.

threesecrets · 23/02/2020 21:04

My nan shopped in topshop 15 years ago when she was in her 80s GrinGrinI don't think that she was their target audience!!
