Curly perm or chemical straighten

I used to have lovely thick perfectly straight hair. Then I had my first child and a 3 inch section on the left of my head went curly. Annoying but easily straightened.
Now I've had my second, another small section on the right has gone curly and the left section is now super frizzy.
I actually hate my hair now. So much. It's still really thick so trying to straighten it myself is so much effort. And to curl with tongs I'd have to straighten the curly/frizzy bit first anyway.

My question is - can I get a perm (proper curls all over) or would I be better chemically straightening it.

I think I took for granted all those years that I could literally leave my hair to dry naturally and it would look fabulous 😭.

It's really getting me down, added in with the fact that the bit that went bald all round the front after second child is growing back in and is now 2 inches long and sticks out when my hairs up (which it always is these days!)

Has anyone had either of these done? Pro's con's? Help much appreciated thanks

Are you able to share a picture of your hair texture? Or a picture of someone with similar to yours?
