Hi guys i've come on here for a little advice. I turned 40 last year and the lines are starting to show! Im determined to wear suncream everyday on my face from now on. But heres the thing i have greasy, spot prone skin. I must have tried 100's of products over the years but i either end up with even greasier skin, spots or a sticky white film. Has anyone got any recommendations to help me out?

I'm not sure if it's still available bit Boots Protect and Perfect used to have a good facial sunscreen

plunkplunkfizz · 22/02/2020 10:48

Biore Wattery Essence

Youngatheart00 · 22/02/2020 10:52

Unless you live in a very sunny climate or are specifically sunbathing, an oil free moisturiser with SPF 30 should be all you need. Try la Roche posay (available in boots). French pharmacy brand and good quality without being super expensive. I don’t think you need to use suncream unless on holiday

Longtalljosie · 22/02/2020 10:54

I found Protect and Perfect very heavy - Dr Sam’s does a good daily factor 50

albicocca · 22/02/2020 12:10

Frezyderm is not greasy. In fact doesn't feel like a sunscreen at all. Spf 50.

Geoffreythecat · 22/02/2020 12:14

Body Shop do a great one, it's called Skin Defence. Also La Roche Posay Anthelios ultra light. Neither are greasy and they don't leave a film.

northernstarsoutherncross · 22/02/2020 12:17

Unseen sunscreen

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 22/02/2020 12:20

Both Watery Essence and Frezyderm are fab. They're not like old fashioned suncreams and Frezyderm is also an amazing primer.

Chilli18 · 22/02/2020 16:57

Thankyou so much for your suggestions Smile

Heliocare is fab

Third biore

Mamazita · 22/02/2020 21:28

My holy grail sunscreen is a Korean one called Purito centella unscented spf50. You can get it from a few online sites here (more expensive) or from yesstyle or eBay and shipped from Korea (cheap)

eurochick · 22/02/2020 21:42

I'd also recommend biore watery essence. It's the only sun protection that I don't find horribly greasy and brings me out in spots.

Laniakea · 22/02/2020 22:35

heliocare 360 factor 50 - not at all greasy

CrowleysBentley · 23/02/2020 04:38

Cosrx aloe soothing sun cream is what I'm using at the moment, it's nice and light, and not greasy or horrible feeling. It's about £11-£12 on lookfantastic. I used to love the Body shop skin defence one, but it seems to have been discontinued.

Chilli18 · 23/02/2020 07:06

Brill recommendations. I'm going to try the biore one and will update on how i get on. Trying to sort myself out this year in little steps. As a mum of 3 ive let things slip abit!

Paulas Choice do an excellent facial spf 30 .. forget the exact name - it's in a blue tube .. it's slightly tinted to avoid any white cast and is the best I've ever tried - seamless under make up Smile

Alonelonelyloner · 23/02/2020 08:14

Good for you OP! Sunscreen on the face is vital. I've been using it daily for 30 years and I am in no doubt as to the difference it makes.

Most day cream moisturises contain sunscreen these days and like a PP I recommend the Korean ones.
But sunscreen has to meet specific standards so even if you go with a cheap and cheerful one from Aldi you should be fine. With greasy skin it maybe a case of your skin just getting used to it. Good luck!

Swearwolf · 23/02/2020 10:32

@bookmeonthesudexpress since you seem to have tried both the Frezyderm and the Biore one, which would you say is better? I'm prone to spots and want something that will work as a primer under my moisturiser.

TopOfTheGherkin · 23/02/2020 10:38

Yes to Biore.

I’ve been wearing the lotion for a couple of years as it’s the only facial sunscreen I’ve found that isn’t either too greasy or chalky and doesn’t give me spots.

However I’ve just discovered the gel (ordered by accident) and it’s even better! So light and make up goes on nicely over it.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 23/02/2020 10:49

@Swearwolf, I'd say personally the Frezy because it's a primer. BUT a lot of people on the Fantastic Skincare threads where I first heard about it said it irritated the more sensitive skin around their eyes and they had to stop.

KTD27 · 23/02/2020 10:55

Another vote for frezyderm. It’s a brilliant primer - a bit like the smash box photo perfect one.
Hasn’t irritated my eyes at all and they’re pretty sensitive

Swearwolf · 23/02/2020 11:00

Awesome, thank you both! I'll try the Frezyderm! I don't have particularly sensitive skin in that way, it's more prone to greasiness/spots than it is to soreness.

Bewildermum · 23/02/2020 11:11

I've just started using this No. 7 foundation that is also SPF 50. I was delighted to find it as I kept forgetting to put on sun screen.

DariaMorgendorffer · 23/02/2020 11:25

To the people recommending the Biore, where do you get it? I've seen it on amazon but worried about fakes/old stock etc.
