Any recs? I'm a size 14/16 and don't wear teetering high heels! Are they a good look with say ankle boots with a slight heel? I saw Kelly Brook in them and she looked amazing.

If you mean the tight variety so not the ones that look a bit loose, I wear mine with plain very short biker boots for the casual look or ankle pointier style short heel boots (2-3 inches but not stiletto shape, a block heel but delicate in style) for a more elevated look. And Flats ballerina style in warmer, dry weather. I wouldn’t wear them with high heels as it would look slutty. Basically treat them a bit like skinny jeans (although with skinny jeans you could wear knee high boots).

Sneakers look good with leather leggings or leather look skinny jeans. White or other non sports sneakers

damnthatanxiety · 22/02/2020 08:17

I agree. Never with heels. Very dated

Eesha · 22/02/2020 08:19

Thanks all, any recs for reasonable brands?

So many choices out there. Depends on your price point. Assuming you don't want actual leather which are priced between around £200 - £1000. Are you looking for faux leather jeans, faux leather leggings or rubberised/coated jeans? They range from around £20 - £100 They are all slightly different. Some have more stretch than others, some are more rubbery feeling, some are slightly textured. I prefer either coated jeans (which don't really look like leather but have that rock look) or faux leather leggings over faux leather jeans. I find the faux leather jeans look a but bulky with all the pockets and zip. It's the faux leather. It sits funny in a jean shape IMO. As for the leggings, I like the ones with a line of stitching down the centre. Look at Next - Lipsy did some that I thought were quite nice. Actually,. Next have lots of different brands. Then there are brands like Spanx and Commando but their leggings are skin tight and nearer £100. Good luck!

I saw some great "cheap" ones on weekday. Faux leather of course. If you want to spend...nanushka does gorgeous vegan leather apparently. Can you post a pic of the Kelly brook ones so we know what you're after? X

Shamazing · 22/02/2020 09:24

I wouldn’t wear them with high heels as it would look slutty.

Slutty? FFS ...

OP, I think they look great with trainers or chunky-ish short ankle boots.

Lndnmummy · 22/02/2020 10:54

I have two pairs. One from marks and spencer and one from Dorothy Perkins. Both great

Eesha · 22/02/2020 13:45

I don't want to spend tons, maybe up to 40 as it's just a style I wanted to try out.

I bought some really nice pleather jeans in River Island the other week. They are very flattering - I am a size 14 - and have taken me on two dates so far! I can't see the same pair online but it might be worth popping in to a River Island if you have one near you. I think they were around £40.

Slutty? FFS ...

My thoughts exactly Confused

OP, I have the Mint Velvet leather look leggings - they’re lovely, and as others have said, might be a bit more flattering/modern than leather look jeans.

Eesha · 22/02/2020 18:48

could someone post a link to the mint velvety ones

H&M usually have a few different style which are very reasonably priced.
I prefer the ones that look like skinny jeans with actual front and back pockets as it looks a little bit more rock’n’roll.
Kelly’s appear to be the leggings variety.
Go for it OP, they are very comfortable too.

I can’t believe people get offended by the term ‘‘slutty’ in this context. I I meant it to mean exactly that and won’t apologise for it, I could have used ‘tarty’ for the same effect but feel free to replace with ‘cheap’ if you find it less grating.

Ah @Branster, I think you misunderstand. I'm not offended by your use of 'slutty', I just find it a bit pathetic really. And I certainty wouldn't expect someone who uses archaic language like slutty, tarty etc, in 2020 to apologise. But then, I don't go around thinking what other women wear makes them look like sluts.

The Asos leather look leggings are around the £20 mark and great for the money if you want to try the look. I like the high cut waist on them, very flattering.
I wear them with heeled ankle boots to lengthen the look of my legs and I don't care what anyone else thinks Grin

MinesaPinot · 23/02/2020 15:23

Mine are from Next. I've got the pull on leather jeggings. Love them. I wear mine with a longish top and suede chunky heeled boots if I'm going out. Last week I wore them to work with a long lightweight denim top and black skater shoes. I'm the same size as you OP.

AntennaReborn · 23/02/2020 15:37

I have 2 pairs, from Asos and La Redoute, both super comfy and under £40.

I like wearing them with a chunky jumper or denim shirt and Stan Smiths

MarnieXx · 23/02/2020 15:39

can you post link @MinesaPinot to the Next one?

MinesaPinot · 23/02/2020 17:38

Hi MarnieXx I bought my a couple of years ago but these are very similar that they've currently got on their website

MinesaPinot · 23/02/2020 17:39

Ps. I've also got some from H&M which I got around Christmas. They're more coated rather than pleather.
