Can anyone help me find a jacket?

I have a funeral to attend next Wednesday and need to find a jacket to wear. The funeral will be formal as it is for my father in law who was a retired vicar. However he did not want everyone to wear all black. I have bought this dress from M&Co, it is black but has brown spots on, I have a brown scarf and bag but am struggling to find a jacket. I tried on the green jacket below from Principles and loved the style but the green isn't quite right. I think an open jacket would look better on me, I am a 14-16 and have a budget of up to £100. I do need it in the next few days though! Any help very gratefully received!

The dress is longer on me as I am a shorty!

I would go for a navy blue, forest green or black coat. Preferably wool mix so it’ll last a good long while. I usually buy from Jigsaw, Jaeger, Hobbs or Baukjen. If they still have sales on you might find something in your budget.

Would this work? @MetallicPaints? It's in black or navy. They have other ones too

Thanks for the suggestions, I am struggling with the no black thing, I'm so rubbish at colours. I would naturally put a black jacket with the dress, I hadn't thought of navy or forest green, I'll have a search.

Can you not just put a nice coat over it, and not bother with a jacket?

Ninkanink · 21/02/2020 10:20

It’s ok to wear a black coat, I think. It’s probably more that they don’t want people turning up head-to-toe in black. I’d wear tan, brown or maybe burgundy footwear to avoid looking too dark.

Ninkanink · 21/02/2020 10:22

Oh and maybe a scarf in a lighter colour.

MetallicPaints · 21/02/2020 10:52

I don't really have a coat that would be smart enough. My life is more practical waterproofs and wellies! The scarf I bought is a lighter brown, so maybe that would lift it. Thanks for the help.

Tan shoes a good idea. Need to go shopping (again)

Something like this?
I'd wear long black or brown boots
