So my dh has a work event coming up- really struggling to find a suitable dress. Size 8/10 5’2 so needs to be petite really ideally under £100... this is best one I’ve found so far but I’m not sure. I think it’s the length that’s wrong. I did find a longer version but felt it made me look shorter...

Oh it's nice.

NarniaBanarnia · 20/02/2020 07:37

Very elegant and flattering; I like it

GreyishDays · 20/02/2020 07:37

What tights did you have in mind? That might change it a bit.

I think it’s lovely but I kind of see what you mean about the length. I think with shoes and makeup all done it will be absolutely lovely though.

Also, bear in mind, most people will be seeing you quite close up so your dress won’t affect how tall you look. I mean they’ll be able to see your actual height.

It is lovely OP, a little short but I think you can get away with it.

Otherwise have a look at Maya on ASOS - theyre a similar style and have a petite range.

icklekid · 20/02/2020 08:31

Yes I was thinking tights would make a difference- I was thinking just nude?

Personally I think it's too short. I'm 5'1 so I know how hard it is to get stuff in proportion. If that's the style you want look in monsoon ( sale) or ASOS

icklekid · 20/02/2020 11:12

I quite like the style but open to other suggestions...

It is nice but it looks a bit short.
What is the event?
Dinner? Dancing?
Black tie ?

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/02/2020 13:02

I also think it's a bit short. A longer length would look better.

icklekid · 20/02/2020 18:29

It’s a charity ball but will definitely be dancing rather than black tie formal...

Not too short at all - black tie doesn’t mean floor length and plenty of women will be in dresses that length or shorter.

It’s a lovely dress and you look great

Lucked · 20/02/2020 22:23

I think it looks a bit too petite for you, too short on the body. It is also more Christmas party than spring dance.

I will have a look.

AnneKipanki · 21/02/2020 07:33

I think the main thing is , if you feel good in it , wear it .
