What to wear post-C section?

I’m currently 5 weeks post-C section and really struggling with clothes! I’m at that awkward stage of being too small for my maternity clothes but the wrong shape for my pre-pregnancy clothes. The incision area is still really tender and I’m finding old jeans very uncomfortable. Am spending most of my time in maternity leggings and yoga pants but would like to look a bit more presentable when we’re out of the house. Literally, the only things that fit properly are my socks!

Last time I lost a lot of weight in the first few months post-partum so while I think I need to buy a few bits, I’d rather not buy a full wardrobe just yet. Have confined myself to a couple of feeding tops so far.

My usual clothes are either dresses and tights (but current dresses won’t allow for breastfeeding, I don’t think) or jeans and tops.

Can anyone recommend any particular styles that might work with a post-CS tummy? Or shops beyond H&M?

I wore maternity tights (h&m) and breastfeeding dresses (new look) until feeling comfortable enough for jeans.

Shirt dresses and wrap dresses are great too and IMO nicer than breastfeeding dresses.

High waisted jeans in soft, stretchy denim (I had a pair from 7 for all mankind) were great too.

I lived in leggings and those long vest type tops that go past your bum and can also stretch down for feeding and then long cardigans. I get wanting to look nice but take it easy on your tummy Smile

What about stretchy or loose skirts?

Primark lounge wear!! And their big full briefs - amazing!

I discovered these about a year after my last child, but Snag tights are very stretchy and forgiving.

Five weeks postpartum (congratulations) I would not buy much. Maybe one pair of stretch trousers and a few tops one size up. You may change shape quite quickly though I never suited my old trousers again sadly.
