Anyone else think Long Tall Sally has totally lost the plot?

Loyal customer for 40 ish years, but they’ve shut all the shops, doubled the price of everything and Heaven knows who they think their customers are now.
I give you the floral print wrap jumpsuit...

Anyone else think Long Tall Sally has totally lost the plot?

The stupid thing is when they get it right, it's really good. I have a top from them, fairly plain but embroidery at the neck. It's so flattering, goes with jeans or a skirt for work. Have they made it again? Nope Sad

Northernsoullover · 19/02/2020 08:18

Oh bloody hell! Thats awful

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 19/02/2020 08:21

I am not fashion forward at all, I like Hush/Joules/Massimo Dutti/H&M etc

At 6ft I should be LTS target group, but not seen anything I liked for years!

BillywilliamV · 19/02/2020 08:39

Still buy their jeans because really have no choice, but even then they’ve got bigger and more expensive.
The new catalogue seems to be aimed at women on the Dutch/ Belgian border about 30 years ago.

I still have some of their classic clothes from 20 years ago, such good quality and last forever. This stuff is tatty market quality AND so many tops only 27 inches long which isn't long at allConfusedHmm

slipperywhensparticus · 19/02/2020 09:07

See that jumpsuit could look good if it wasnt so floral and tailored a bit more

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/02/2020 09:10

I have 4 pairs of yoga pants I've bought over the years, the wide legged type.

All the same size. First pair was so big I ended up altering the waist band myself. Second pair were fantastic with a slight ruched waist band. Third pair they'd changed AGAIN and were ok but the last pair were so ridiculously uncomfy as the elastic was so rigid I will have to alter them.

I’m LTS target market too I imagine but haven’t shopped there in some time. Every so often I’ll have a look but nothing appeals and as pp say, so expensive. It’s a shame- there are lots of tall women out there and not too many shops who sell tall items so they should clean up!

@BillywilliamV how tall are you? I’m 6ft with 34” leg and buy jeans from next xxl and tall range. Maybe worth a look?

PlatinumBrunette · 19/02/2020 09:56

Awful stuff. I use it for some knitwear, leggings and yoga pants. Only buy in the sales or if I can find a 30% voucher code (surprisingly available most of the time!).

I have recently discovered Next Tall is sometimes good for dresses. And occasionally ASOS tall, but that seems mainly aimed at slinky teenagers.

ChainsawBear · 19/02/2020 10:05

I'm very much not their target customer, but I think that jumpsuit is actually quite nice - both jumpsuits and bold florals are trends so presumably they are trying to add some trend pieces rather than dealing only in classics. I can't say whether they're getting it right or not, obviously, but I presume their customer data indicates that tall women also want to have the chance to follow the trends.

I think all shops are under the same commercial pressures leading to a general decline in fabric quality.

RightSwipe · 19/02/2020 10:59

There was a brief period on the early 2000s when it was good for smart/formal stuff - jackets, work dresses etc.

It’s been dreadful for years now, though.
I’ve bought one item from LTS in the last decade - a maxi dress for holidays which was OK, but nothing amazing.

Very badly made, poorly tailored workwear these days. Sizes are all over the place. Too many ridiculous ‘statement’ items like that jumpsuit (which looks like something my ‘funky’ primary school teacher in the 1980s would have worn).

Tall womenswear is disappointing in general.

Lucked · 19/02/2020 11:28

I bought a couple of jumpers at Christmas, they were a bit overpriced even after discount but I liked the design however when they weren’t actually ‘tall’ jumpers. Length and arm length no different from M&S etc.

BillywilliamV · 19/02/2020 14:28

I'm 6 ft 1 in size 10 feet, I've not considered Next, maybe an option for my 14yr old six footer too.
Size 9 narrow walking boots anyone??

Lots of Next clothes including tops, skirts and dresses come in Long. You can do a search on the website for all the Long clothing.

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 19/02/2020 17:54

What was that comment about the Dutch Belgian border???!!! Grin

I find Dorothy Perkins jeans can be good (and much cheaper), also H&M

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 19/02/2020 17:58

Also, I just wear normal sized clothes and just "show off" my legs as I'm done with tall fashion. Currently wearing a demure Joules knee-length dress that on me is a daring mini dress Grin

As too-short-trousers are all the rage, and midi's I feel that for now "fall fashion" can eff off!

RosalitaJumpALittleHigher · 19/02/2020 18:15

I agree, most of the LTS stuff now is frumpymcfrumpville. I have some coats and jackets I've had for years which are still in great nick, and a couple of tops but the last few times I've ordered (plain) tops the fit has been really odd - either too long or enormous. I'm 5'10 so can buy most stuff off the peg but I hate the feeling of too short arms in coats which is the only reason I bother to look at LTS website now.

Whatevah · 19/02/2020 18:52

I'm 5'8" and the tops are too short for me! I always wonder who is actually buying the stuff.

AuntieMarys · 19/02/2020 18:54

Ridiculously expensive. Shit quality. Such a gap in the market.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/02/2020 19:02

What is their swimwear like in terms of fit ? I am tallish and busty, a combination seemingly impossible when it comes to swimsuits.

AJTracey · 19/02/2020 19:05

Topshop and Asos do great Tall jeans btw. That jumpsuit looks great on the model but on me would look erm interesting!

Menopauseandteensdontmix100 · 19/02/2020 19:10

They have really gone off the boil goodness only knows who that jumpsuit is aimed at.
As a plus sized menopausal tall certainly not me!! Most of the fabrics are man made and don’t last or wash and wear well these days. If I am paying their prices I want things to look good, be versatile, fit well and last well. Not made of cheap sweaty fabric.
Next tall the dresses have too higher waist and most of the other so called tall providers cater for much younger customers and stop at an 18 and I am a 20.

ScarlettDarling · 19/02/2020 20:05

Another vote for the Next tall range. I'm 5'11" and their xxl or tall jeans are great. Lots of their tall dresses are too long for me, so might be worth a try for you as you're a couple of inches taller than me!

Menopauseandteensdontmix100 · 19/02/2020 20:14

I always find the waists too high/short in NEXT tall
