It’s a fine line I think.

I would wear them for comfort and dog walking

Hideous

Depends what you are wearing them for. Walking the dog or digging the garden - fine, with your ballgown- hideous.

I like them but all that lacing up would do my head in. If they are for snow I'd go full on moon boot type - pull on, furry inside. If for general walking I'd get Goretex lined walking boots you can wear with thick socks. If for wet weather I'd get decent wellies with a fleecy warmer. Ideally all three (I certainly need the last two regularly for dog walking).

Practicality is the key - hideous is wearing glamorous fashionable boots and falling over in the snow and mud/getting soggy feet in the rain. Not having the right kit for the right job.

Perfectly fine depending on what you are doing/where going etc. I’m assuming they zip up on the side so lacing isn’t a problem?

I would wear them for middling type river/park walk if not wet/muddy. I wear full on walking boots for ‘proper’ walks. I’d end up not wearing them very often.
In fact I have a not dissimilar pair not worn for over a year. Worn once on snowy day. Wear wellies/walking boots more often.

For general wear hideous. For dog walking great

They’re great for what they’re meant for. Anything outdoorsy, walks/countryside, dog walking etc.
