has sizing changed?

I just got myself 3 pairs of trousers from Asos: New Look, one own brand and something else.

I have always been a 12. If anything, I am now bigger than before. but all trousers are wayy to big.

My last trouser was purchased a few years ago (reluctant shopper). Did the sizing change? is the new 12 a 10?

I think it has. I’m an 8 in Zara these days (I think I’m a true 8-10), I was smaller than I am now a couple of years ago and an 8 in trousers there wouldn’t come near me. I also feel as though a small has changed into xs.

Definitely. I'm a 10 these days or an 8 in places like Next or M&S yet I have size 12 clothes from around 20 years ago that also fit.

It's called vanity sizing. A size 12 is now about 6" bigger at the waist than in the 1950s.

Asos sizes are huge. So are h&m. Even zara has got a lot bigger

Undoubtedly; I ordered a pair of size 10 trousers from ASOS last week they were way too big ... bigger than the size 12 Next trousers I still have from 20 years ago). And the my were slim fit not even baggy or oversized Confused

Hush & Uniqlo too & supermarket clothes are massive. I think Primark are closest to ‘old’ sizes.

thanks. will downsize next time!

Absolutely! I've been a 10 forever. Still am. Even though I'm a good half a stone to a stone more than a few years ago!

Definitely, it’s a thing.

Interestingly dressmaking pattern sizes haven’t changed so I’m a comfortable 14 in most high street stores, a 12 in some places. When I make myself clothes I’m a 16 or even 18.
