Help! What do I wear for a weekend at Burgh Island?

I'm going to Burgh Island with DH next month and I have no idea what to wear.

I have a selection of ball gowns and cocktail dresses but I'm not sure if they fit as I'm still losing weight.

Does it have yo be 1930s style, or will glamourous do?

I was lucky enough to stay there for my honeymoon a few years ago. Definitely go glam! It does not have to be 1930s style, I wore a cocktail dress. There were a few people dressed in period costume, but the majority were not.

I am desperate to go back there, it is an out of this world experience from the moment they pick you up on the mainland and whisk you over the beach (or it will be the sea tractor if the tide is in!). Enjoy every minute!

I can't wait! I have a selection of 1950s style dresses, cocktail dresses and full length ballgowns. I might just take everything that fits & sort it out when I get there.

What sort of thing do people wear during the day?

I stayed a few years ago and you don't have to be in 1930s style but you can definitely go very glamorous. Men are supposed to wear black tie. Have a great time. It's a very special place.

I went there a few years ago for our 10th anniversary. I'd love to go back, but it's such a long drive! Yes, definitely go all out glam. If you have anything that fits the time period, wear it. If you haven't, then the most glam you have. It's a good excuse to go all out. DH wore black tie as well.

Eek I got engaged there at one of their balls. It was beyond romantic!! I wore a cocktail dress and felt suitably glam but there were quite a few ball gowns as well. I dressed smart casual in the day. You will probably need proper walking type boots as well so a bit of country attire might be good too ( my dubarry boots would be perfect ). Have an amazing time.
