Suit with shorts for wedding?

unbalancedBella · 17/02/2020 09:29

Hi going to a wedding in the summer and fancy something different the the normal "nice dress".

Thought I might try either a trouser suit (maybe too formal) or a suit with shorts (but not too short).

Quite like this sort of thing, although this is too close to white for a wedding.

Anyone seen anything? Am I deluded?

What about a jumpsuit?

SurpriseSparDay · 17/02/2020 09:56

Something like this suit?

Great idea for a wedding, and there seem to be plenty around at all budgets.

It's a no from me

LilyJade · 17/02/2020 13:33

I like it.

drina27 · 17/02/2020 13:46

No.

Jellybott · 17/02/2020 13:48

I was ready to say no, but it actually looks very nice

TARSCOUT · 17/02/2020 13:57

Nice if you can carry it off but different colour.

DrDetriment · 17/02/2020 14:00

No.

SpeedofaSloth · 17/02/2020 14:03

I like it.

Miseryisabutterfly · 17/02/2020 14:04

Love this idea

Orchidflower1 · 17/02/2020 14:07

No on two counts

  1. Colour is wrong for a wedding.

  2. it looks like smart summer office wear.

Happyandglorious · 17/02/2020 14:09

I love the look. For a wedding would make sure shoes, clutch and jewelry was suitably dressed up. Also would avoid a fascinator or any kind of hat tbh

XingMing · 17/02/2020 14:33

I think it looks wonderful for a wedding, as long as it's not a really really formal do with all men in morning coats. And you could wear it for summer office wear... Some caveats, I think it's a look for the fairly youthful, and you need impeccable tanned pins.

UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre · 17/02/2020 14:36

YESSSS
It’s GORGEOUS

GrannyBags · 17/02/2020 14:39

If you have the legs for it then go for it. One of our baptism mums wore a coral pink short suit for the service last summer and it looked stunning.

TruffleShuffles · 17/02/2020 15:39

I think it would look great. I always remember pictures of Kate Moss at a wedding wearing a short suit and fedora, she looked fab.

Purplecatshopaholic · 17/02/2020 15:51

It’s a big Yes from me

Elouera · 17/02/2020 15:57

Depends on the formality of the wedding. If its in a church, I personally would never wear shorts that short! (well, even if it wasnt in a church too).
As others have said, what about a jumpsuit, or even cullotes instead of shorts? Some suits might make you look like part of the bridal party and as you said, definitely not in that cream colour either. No reason you need to wear a dress.

unbalancedBella · 17/02/2020 16:55

Thanks for all the feedback. No, I wasn't going for a cream one (too close to white) and I will also look at jumpsuits and cullotes. And full length trousers. No, it isn't in a church.

Glad to get some positive feedback on the idea.

Yes yes yes. Great idea. Much fresher than the usual "nice dress and a wrap." I usually do jumpsuits for weddings as they're ideal for running round after kids (and dancing enthusiastically!) but tempted to try a short suit now ...

Thinkle · 17/02/2020 19:12

I’ve seen it done amazingly and vividly remember it because I was so Jealous. She was tall and very slim so I’d never carry it off but:
Similar cut to your photo (I.e. loose fit)
Block healed mid height sandals
Loose/silky cami top tucked in

Wide brimmed hat (hat made it)
