Superdrug Pre shampoo elasticiser

I know lots of people rave about this but I'm not sure its fit for purpose for my hair. Fine, prone to frizz and curls (but not the nice ones, unevenly distributed with straight frizzy bits). I've used it for a few hours before washing and the recommended 20 minutes and both times I've ended up with a frizzy halo of hair (worse than normal). Lovely and soft - but not really what I would consider more manageable. Once I apply a significant heat it does look good but certainly doesn't decrease styling time as I hoped.

Anyone else had this problem?

No, it makes my hair feel smooth as silk. My hairs quite straight naturally though.

Would you consider having a Brazilian blow dry? Amazon sell kits to do it at home.

I had one years ago and felt I lost all the body in my hair, but maybe technology has moved on now?

I've just got a bit over excited to discover there is a cheaper alternative to Philip Kingsley elasticer which is one of the best products I've ever used, so I'm going to try this.

It does say use sparingly on fine hair on the Superdrug website, so maybe just use less? I have think hair, so am not much help.

I have fine straight hair and sleep in it overnight. It makes my hair feel amazing! Even better than olaplex 3

I am very tempted @Fluffycloudland77 but was worried that when the cheaper alternative had not impact maybe the more expensive would be the same?

I like PKE so am going to give this a try! But I am loving a leave in conditioning, heat protecting, all in one spray called Milkshake. Bought of amazon and my hair sounds very similar to yours op

Makes my hair look and feel thicker and it sits lovely.

It's a totally different product. I wish things called elasticiser had to be based on the same ingredients as PKE.

Slightly different but for those wanting a comparison:

I have thick, straight hair that's been bleached to platinum (from very dark brown), and I'm a PKE devotee. I bought the Superdrug one out of curiosity. It's good but it's more of a deep conditioner that adds moisture to dry ends, whereas I find PKE seems to really repair damage and change the way my hair behaves. It also needs two shampoos (I use a clarifying one and then a silver one) vs PKE's one.

Don't expect the same results! But it is good for the price. I'll be taking it on holiday to use poolside!

I've used the Superdrug one 4 times, I don't like it, doesn't make my hair any better than if I hadn't used it. I also had the same experience with PK Elasticizer.

But PK Elasticizer Extreme - game changer!

I use a spray called wow. You put it on after washing and it's great. Saving faffing with putting on before washing etc.

I have lots of thin, bra strap length hair. No colour, al natural. It's greying and tends towards a straw-like consistency. However, I use the elasticizer extreme, followed by Aveda Dry remedy shampoo and conditioner, followed by a hair oil, and I'm left with free, bouncy great feeling hair. I've built up to this. Started searching for shampoo and conditioner, then the search for a hair oil. PKE is new for me. It's given shine and a real healthy look and feel.

What do you do styling wise @dudsville. Blow dry? Straightening?

Left to its own it would be a thick fuzzy shrub shape (and without these products it would tangle, aveda was the best for me for keeping it from tangling), so I do a quick blow dry, inexpertly, takes only about 3-5 min on the cool to medium heat setting, then I use wide barrel tongs on the lowest heat setting for 3 seconds. Although I have lots of hair it is really thin so I only have 6 sections to do. Quick brush finger through (my hair holds curl so I'm just taming it) and that last 3 or 4 days. The addition of PKE has meant that i can now brush my hair daily without scaring it back into the shrub mode. I use the extreme version of PKE. My hair is never oily or greasy.

Ps, my hair straightened looks too flat so i use the tongs to just smooth it.
