Help! Photo being taken for work website on Monday and I'm a freaking mess!!!

I work in professional services and I'm booked to have my photo taken monday afternoon. I'm a bit fatter than I'd like to be, and I dont photograph well, I tense up and always end up looking shit :(

I've booked in to have my hair cut and blow dried, I just need to find something to wear. Photos are from mid thigh upwards so a flattering dark dress, ideally comfortable (doesnt need to be tailored or a suit dress) so I'm more relaxed.

Can anyone suggest something tried and tested which is in the shops at the moment and say how they'd accessorise? I'd love a good photo for once.

I work in a large city so can spare an hour or two first thing to go to the shops, budget ideally below £100 but could go over.

TIA

How did you get on?

Insist on a final say and (if necessary!) a veto. :-)

Oh OP I feel for you. Very sensible to get hair done before hand. Totally agree with great advice on here. Buy shapewear and THEN look for a dress. Plus navy photographs much better than black. Good luck. X

I feel your pain too. My company ‘added’ my photo to the stock of colleagues’ images but it wasn’t done in a studio but outside in bright sunshine on a breezy day. I can tell you, the results weren’t great. Hmm

Practice - get someone to take loads of pictures of you on your phone while concentrating on how you are angling your head, smiling, what you're doing with your arms etc, then you can try to recreate the best poses while you're with the professional photographer. Make up doesn't show in pictures the way it does in real life so you need more, but again, practice.
