Dyed hair too light - help please!

I've used a boxed dye on my mid/light blonde hair, and it's much lighter that I had expected.
I wouldn't mind it being lighter but it's got a nasty yellow tint and doesn't look natural at all. I've tried a purple toner but hasn't made a difference.
I really can't afford a hairdresser fix, and it's not so bad I'm running there with a hat on...but what would be the easiest way to tone it down?
Can I just put a darker blonde tone on it? The condition isn't too bad, but I'm reluctant to keep dying it.

Thanks

Try a toner instead of dying it again. Sally's have them. They deposit instead of lifting.

I believe that blue shampoo tones down yellow and purple shampoo tones orange. Perhaps try a blue toning shampoo (not common in shops but easier online) and leave on dry hair for 30 mins before rinsing perhaps. Lots of conditioner afterwards.

Thank you both, I'll pop to Sally's tomorrow and see what they have.

What toner did you use? Toner should work really. You might have to leave it on for a while
