Make up , good or bad ?

Something I’ve often wondered is , from an aging point of view, is wearing makeup good or bad ? As in does it form a barrier and protect the skin or does putting stuff on your skin every day actually knacker it up more and give you more wrinkles in the long run ?
Humour me and tell me what you think and why .

Make up doesn't give you wrinkles. Poor skincare, not enough water, too much sun, drinking and smoking knackers your skin and causes wrinkles. Make up can certainly highlight wrinkles e.g. concealer that sinks into fine lines around the eyes. I'd look rough if I turned up to work with no make up on, so for me it gives me back a bit of youthfulness (I'm 48).

I don't think age comes into it. If you're pale and you put bright orange foundation on of course it's not going to do you any favours. Regardless of wether you're 17 or 70. It's all about finding the right colours ect.

I read the other day, that a leading dermatologist says too much skin care is aging. He recommends washing with Dove bar and follow it with factor 30 sunblock.

I think I read somewhere that the reason Joan Collins says her skin is so incredible for a lady in her 80s is that it hasn't seen daylight since about 1959, thanks to her dedicated trowelling on of Panstik.
