I walk miles everyday. I have high maintenance old lady feet. I wish I could wear converse or something else that I could choose just on the basis of how they look but alas that ship has sailed. Please tell me about your insanely wonderful trainers (especially if they are not eye bleedingly ugly).

Asics Gel zone, only use them for running but by god they are so comfy!

pocketandsweet · 12/02/2020 17:43

This is interesting the most uncomfortable trainers I ever had were a pair of Asics but they keep coming up....maybe I need to try again. My problem with the Asics was that they fit so tight around the top of the heel and I have had achilles tendon problems in the past so that was an issue.

I love the look of the Feiyue and I have contemplated them in the past but figured they would be too uncushioned for lots of pavement walking and figured they would just end up being something I wear while working on my computer at home (and I already have a big collection of fabulous shoes that are only useful for that).

FitFlop trainers are super comfy if you're on your feet a lot. They probably won't be as fashionable as all the others that have been mentioned but some of their styles aren't too offensive 😬

TableNiner · 12/02/2020 18:16

My New Balance trainers are the comfiest thing I’ve ever worn

littleduckeggblue · 12/02/2020 18:17

Leannes by Hotter

DelphiniumBlue · 12/02/2020 18:20

I was going to say FitFlops too, I have 3 pairs and they are so comfortable. The soles are like padded air!
I've also got Nike Hurache which are pretty comfortable too. But not rainproof.

DrivingMsCrazy · 12/02/2020 18:20

It was the tight fit that made ASICS the best fit for me OP, helps keep them on my ridiculously skinny feet and so my heel doesn't move and rub.
DH and DS love their Nikes.
Sketchers didn't give any of us enough support and wouldn't get them again.
My friend who is a serious hill walker swears by her Merrills for long hikes, won't look at another brand.

BoccaBaciata · 12/02/2020 18:24

FitFlop. I have loads. I also have lots of nasty foot issues (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, plantar fascitis, hypermobile joints) and they're fabulous. DD is a very stylish 24 year old and she also loves them. They're not offensive at all, depending on how you style them.

sodabreadjam · 12/02/2020 19:15

Reebok Classics. All leather so you can wear them in winter. I also have had Achilles tendon problems in the past and have never had an issue when wearing these - I've had numerous pairs.

Might be too ugly for you though. I have reached the age where comfort comes first.

Another vote for Reebok Classics. I'm on my feet all day at work, but they're so comfy I never think to take them off when I get home. On days off, I walk the dogs for miles in an old pair. I think they look good too. They're plain, so go with anything.

KangapooandRoo · 12/02/2020 20:34

I used shoe stretchers on my asics & they fit my feet perfectly.
I love the memory foam sketchers but they have no arch support. Going to try new balance nex

cheeseomelette · 12/02/2020 21:03

I have some amazingly comfortable mint velvet trainers. Look lovely too. The arch support is fab and I bounce around work in them most days.

Adidas Ultraboost - I have osteoarthritis in both heels & one ankle after a bad injury years ago, so can only wear really well cushioned trainers. My orthopaedic surgeon is always impressed by me buying new ones as the cushioning reduces. They have kept me moving more.

AiryFairy1 · 13/02/2020 01:51

Another vote for All birds 🐦

Van's. Most comfortable shoes ever.
When I worked it was always leather brogues for me , now I am a full time carer and at hame alot I tried a pair of Van's and have never looked back.
If I needed a formal shoe Hotter would be my choice.
