Do these boots exist?

I'm going to the States with work next month and it may be cold!

I want some (ideally brown) boots that will withstand rain and possibly snow and will withstand some sightseeing round the city I'm visiting.

They DON'T need to go with workwear, though it they did that would be a bonus.

I have these and whilst not waterproof they are water resistant and so so comfy and warm, but might not be smart enough or in your size as several are sold out www.celticandco.com/womens/footwear/leather-boots/woodsman-boots

Gabor boots are amazing for walking in. I'm sure most leather ones are waterproof.

Ugg do some boots that are waterproof and others that are water resistant, with their usual sheepskin lining but not so hideous looking as classic Ugg boots.

E.g. this Chelsea boot style: www.ugg.com/uk/bonham-iii-waterproof-chelsea-boot/1110129.html?dwvar_1110129_color=STT

Timberland do lovely waterproof boots with fleece linings - some good reductions on their website too - not sure they can be workwear though.

OP unless you are 85 years old steer clear of Gabor haha.

What about Sorel? They have a big range from just 'city' shoes all the way to hiking for snow/rain/extreme conditions, and they do quite fashionable options.

Pikolinos boots are great - thick rubber soles and heel tips... I’ve had mine for 2 years and they’ve been fantastic in the winter.

Thank you all - some excellent suggestions here. You'd think the ask was easy but it's causing me so many dilemmas. I'm early 40s.

Really happy with them. Comfortable, waterproof and work nicely with skinny jeans. Plenty of other waterproof boots on their site.

Camper do some flat warm winter boots.

wineymummy · 11/02/2020 21:17

Try ECCO. Bought some last year, brown leather and totally waterproof.

As for me the best work boots for walking all day is caterpillar shoes! These booties are great for hiking and trekking. They are perfect for winter as well. Their thin soles make them breathable and the durable plastic footbed offers very good cushioning.

You can wear these when it's raining. I've done a lot of camping in wet weather and these were amazing. They do have a little stiffer sole than some others I tested but the waterproof membranes were nice and they weren't sticky like some of the other boots.

Finally, this is the best work boots seems like a great choice for hiking and venturing all day.

I'd get some Dr Martens. There are some fab styles in the brown.

Just popping up again to say to wear in the boots a bit before you go. Just in case they need some softening up. Though I've never had any trouble with Timberland.
