Trends that are no longer trends - hush ruched skirt, par exemple

A few years ago, these were all the rage, but now it's all about the midi.
I can't do the midi very well.
Is anyone still wearing theirs (or any other tube type mini)?
How are you updating it?
I love mine with slouchy T/jumper but wondering if I should consign to eBay

I am loving these stories of women who are over 30 (no offence to anyone on thread who is under 30) and still embracing life/using their bodies/using their minds
(And using their Hush skirts)
@kiteflyingkat, we are a broad church and you are still welcome. Was it the fiddly moving the ruche around issue?

I wear my ruched skirt/stretchy tube skirts all the time! Probably 2/3 times a week. They’re perfect for me to wear at work and I like them for weekend wear too. Luckily I live somewhere where people wear what they like and what suits them, not what’s the latest fashion, so I’ve not been driven out of town yet.

WellTidy · 11/02/2020 07:31

I seemed to wear knitted dresses, opaques and heeled boots to work every day about ten years ago. I know this as they’re all lined up in the spare room wardrobe reminding me of the days when I could fit into them.

I also went through a Ravello phase, they were very easy option.

I haven’t seen many ugg boots around this winter.

KiteflyingKat · 11/02/2020 07:32

No - I just didn’t think it was flattering. I’m 5”7 and size 10 so don’t have a bad figure, but it just didn’t look good on me at all.

PickleBottomNo3sMum · 11/02/2020 08:49

Surely we should all wear what we want? Wear what suits us and makes us happy rather than all looking the same, like sheep. Things would be very boring if we all looked the same.

I have a Boden ruched skirt which is sadly too small for me and have been looking out for another. I do think they’re more of a winter thing and work better with tights though.

SinglePringle · 11/02/2020 09:00

I mean this kindly but Hush and Boden were never / are never really ‘on trend’ are they? I mean, the (for example) Ravello top looks like a perfectly ordinary top, the kind you can buy in John Lewis or Sainsburys.

That said, people should wear what they like and makes them feel good. Strut your ruched mini with pride!

Must admit I rarely give a toss if I'm 'on trend' or not. A quick glance at Vogue tells me that these are the looks to keep me 'on trend'. Frankly, I'd rather be off trend in that case.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/02/2020 17:45

Although I'm now drooling over the 'belted cape coat'!

florriepeck · 11/02/2020 19:31

I like the belted cape coat, too.
Though it's a bit Basil Brush in his heyday.

Floisme · 11/02/2020 19:45

I think the belted cape is fab.
But then I have no moral fibre and quite like fashion.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/02/2020 20:30

Basil Brush - total sartorial icon. I thought it was more Georgette Heyer hero, but that's a look I could go for, I reckon.

ZaraW · 12/02/2020 04:39

Lots of beautiful clothes on the Vogue link. The belted cape coat is fab but love the Purest Form trousers.

notstockpilingyet · 12/02/2020 07:46

Indeed, and the bottle green coat is stunning.
