Comfortable Stylish Sandles

I am on the hunt for some comfortable shoes that look reasonably stylish. The sort that would be fine for both sightseeing and going out in the evening. My feet are on the wide side. Would also like to buy them online. Any thoughts?

Birkenstock’s every time. Think about the metallic ones as can be dressy or casual.

CountFosco · 08/02/2020 09:05

3 choices: Birkies, saltwaters or Italian sandals.

Fitflops do some lovely sandals.

Ninkanink · 08/02/2020 14:22

Fitflop.

I’ve got these two pairs, plus several that have a toe bar. Ok so they’re not über stylish but they do look great and can be dressed up or down quite easily, and they’re very, very comfortable.

I always buy in the sales, and usually from the further reduced outlet section so I save a lot on original price.

I am very happy with these Clarks ones.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 08/02/2020 21:04

Saltwaters look ok if you've got tiny tanned and beautifully manicured feet, otherwise they look like Birkenstocks which may be comfy but will never be stylish. They're buggers to wear in as well.
I quite like the Fitflop ranges.

I had some sketchers bobs sandals in gold and they got so many compliments last year. They are so comfy and go with everything. Great for wide feet too!

LunaTheCat · 09/02/2020 01:36

Ohh those Italian ones look gorgeous. Salt waters look cool but they are very flat with thin sole - birkies definitely more comfortable and shaped footbed supportive.

LightOfAThousandStars · 10/02/2020 09:58

Saltwaters are very very flat and not really comfortable for a lot of walking. I bought a pair and regret it to be honest. Those Skecher ones look good, tempted to try them out myself Smile

Agree saltwaters are very flat, they make the soles of my feet ache even after a short bit of walking

CountFosco · 10/02/2020 10:22

Everyone is different, I love how flat saltwaters are (like barefoot shoes) and actually find them more comfortable than my Birkies, I happily wear saltwaters for all day walking (not for climbing a mountain but great for in cities or towns or non-strenuous walking in the country). Personally I only wear fitflops when not doing a lot of walking, I don't like the massive sole that doesn't allow your foot to respond naturally to the ground.

Ninkanink · 10/02/2020 11:21

The Fitflops I wear are the ones with the less substantial sole. I find they look a little better and I prefer the way they feel, too.

Sanuk Yoga Slings all tr way like waling on clouds even on cobbled streets, never rub, never need breaking in, come in loads of colours and can be easily dressed up or down.

They're the only sandals I can walk miles in when my back flares up.
Plus they look a lot nicer on that in the pictures.

Just checked and most of the Sanuks are £19 on Amazon Smile

www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/cova-weave-leather-closed-toe-sandals-p-W74#675 The gold ones. Suit a wide foot. look glam but can be worn all day. Ive found the black ones not to be quite as wide.

covetingthepreciousthings · 10/02/2020 13:43

I'd recommend Saltwaters, I've got 3 pairs and wear them March till October usually every day! Love them, the comfiest shoes I own, I have quite wide feet and struggle finding sandals that fit.
They are very flat, but I still find them very comfortable, depends whether you want ones that have more support.
