What do you wear with joggers? I want to look relaxed & on trend, but think I look like I’m wearing my pyjamas.

I think this is one trend you have to be tall and fairly slim/average to wear

I'm short and not slim/average Winkso I look like a bag lady or extremely casual no matter how smart a top/boots/accessories I wear. I genuinely look like I escaped from some sort of unit.

I see it done successfully on the models on MeandEm so start there?

Hmm - I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there, I am not tall or slim (or in the first flush of youth tbh).

I wear a tighter fit jumper and boots if I want to look a bit more ‘done’ or looser jumper/trainers if not.

motortroll · 07/02/2020 18:20

I wear mine with a square style jumper (I can't explain what I mean lol) and what I call "fashion" trainers. Mine are puma skate style.

motortroll · 07/02/2020 18:20

Btw I'm not skinny size 14-16!

EL0ISE · 07/02/2020 18:22

I am middle aged and a fairly classic dresser so I only wear one casual / sportswear item at a time.

So smart trainers but with cropped wide leg trousers and a sweater

Wool hoodie with smart trousers and shoes / boots

Joggers with stylish knitwear and boots / shoes ( much like the photo Laurie posted )

I only wear full sportswear if I’m actually doing sport.

That’s just me. Maybe if you are younger and / or a more ‘natural’ style then you could get away with it.

Sinjistalk · 07/02/2020 18:22

LaurieFairyCake yes, just like that!

I don't often wear joggers out of the house I'm afraid! But in the summer with trainers, a bit of ankle and a tight vest top they can look ok. I think you have to balance the bottoms out with a structured, fitted top.

If I do wear them in the winter, I wear them with trainers and a cashmere jumper. Tricky to pull off though I think!

moochew · 07/02/2020 19:48

i wear them with ankle boots - Blundstone or Grenson Nanette with a cashmere jumper or a crew neck shirt in the summer with Birkinstocks, sometimes an oversized shirt but I am anything but a classic dresser - the thought of it makes me shudder! I am tall and size 12.

Bluerussian · 07/02/2020 19:51

T shirt if indoors.

LunaTheCat · 07/02/2020 19:54

ELOISE wonderful advice - you sound very stylish!

I don't wear joggers. My 16yo DD wears joggers with a slouchy jumper or baggy top

HermonieGranger · 09/02/2020 13:33

@eloise
Can I ask what coat you wear when wearing joggers ?

teta · 09/02/2020 17:16

I'm in my 50's and am wearing joggers today from Wrap ( denim blue corduroy effect) with a navy Cashmere Whistles v neck , black boots and a Jaeger Navy Coat. I think I do subconsciously follow the rule of one casual item with smarter bits.
I do absolutely love the comfort of joggers and have several drop crotched ones from Cos and H&m. Even though my teenagers say it looks like I'm wearing a nappy from behind 😄
